Suddenly Mine

Chapter 1

"Violet get down here and feed the dog! That's one of your very few chores so I can't understand why you can't do it without me constantly telling you to," my mother screams up the stairs. "I'm painting my toenails, can't I finish first?" I yell back. "Get down here now or I'm taking your phone for the rest of the night!" She yells getting even more frustrated. I sigh and screw the top back onto my blue nail polish bottle and pull myself off of my bed.
I head downstairs to see my mom putting dishes away. "Sawyer" I call and my black lab leaps right up to come see me. As I fill his bowl up he sits there watching me with his tail wagging. He's so cute!
"I'm going to Market Basket, your father will be home soon with your sister." My mom says. "Where did they go?" I ask confused. "Your father took her to see the new Tinker Bell movie. She begged him for a good hour and he finally gave in." She chuckles. "I wish it were that easy for me..." I say with a sigh. My mom was too busy getting ready to head out the door that she didn't hear me. She waves goodbye and heads out the door. I look at my dog and say "Well bud, it looks like it's just you and me,"
I decided to go back up to my room and Skype my friend Stacy while finishing painting my toes. I pick up my phone and call but there is no answer. I noticed that I had a Facebook message from a kid named Jason. It read "Hey Violet, I know that we never really talk but... I think that you're really pretty and I would love to chill sometime. Let me know what you think." Wow I never knew that Jason even knew that I existed! He is pretty popular and is liked by a lot of upperclassmen. He is in my grade, we are both soft mores.
I answered back saying "Yeah I would love to, but when?" He answered almost immediately saying "Today?" This have me the nervous butterflies. Should I? Would my parents let me? Is this a date? Oh my god.. I've never been on a date before so what if I mess up? I decided to be a big girl and say "Yeah sure, where?" He then said "The school?" I live close to the school so I could probably just walk and that way I could be home before my family gets home and they wouldn't have to know that I even left!
I quickly typed "Sure, heading there now." I brushed and parted my hair and ran a wand of mascara across my eyelashes. I put a cute shirt and some shorts on and put on my vans and headed out the door.
My phone vibrated while I was walking and it was Jason. The message he sent said "I'm already here waiting, meet me in the back." Wow... I'm off to my what I think is considered to be my first date.. I'm so nervous!
