jhene aiko echoed throughout my car as i drove down the highway. i was so tired of everything. I couldn't believe benjamin went and did that, after everything i did for him.
I paused my music before facetiming vena. I didn't know what to do, and my bestfriend was the only person i could really talk to without shame. "whats u-" vena cut herself off seeing i was visibly upset.
"what's wrong mor?" vena said as her smile faded away. "i was coming home from work, and i got a text message but i thought it was benjamin texting me or either the group chat but it was an unknown number sending me a picture of them all laid up together." I said.
"are you fucking serious??" i heard vena express as she sighed. "yes, i don't even wanna think about it to be honest." i said shaking my head.
"well where are you a-" i heard vena say before everything went black.
I awakened hearing sirens and voices all around me.
I had passed out, and drifted into the other lane hitting a mack truck in the action. "ma'am can you hear me." a figure hovered above me shining a light into my eyes. i couldn't speak or move. it was almost like i was in a paralysis.
i just laid there and waited for someone to realize i couldn't do anything. I ended up getting put into an ambulance, they still tried to talk to me but everything was still black and i couldn't talk nor move.
"can you move your toes if you hear me?" the male in the ambulance truck said. I tried my best to since it hurt everytime i was able to move. I was unable to.
I blacked out again, before awakening in a hospital bed. this time vena and another person were here. I could hear them arguing outside the hospital room.
I know it was benjamin and vena. i was so frustrated, i couldn't move, speak, or see. no matter how hard i tried, and how long i tried.. i couldn't.
i was snapped out of my thoughts by the sound of a creaky door opening. "mori my love, if you can hear me please fight. I can't lose you." i heard vena say from beside my bed. It was soon accompanied by her grabbing my hand.
I was crying inside. I wanted to speak to vena so bad and tell her everything was okay, but i couldn't and i felt so guilty for putting her in this predicament. I soon heard two other people enter the echoy room.
"okay, so the labs came back and your friend is diagnosed with a rare disorder of the nervous system which causes her to not be able to move, speak , or see. usually in these cases people with locked in syndrome are able to see, but in her case not so much."
"she can still hear and make out everything you guys are saying, she just cannot move and is paralyzed from the eyes down until she wakes up out of this short term coma."
"okay thank you so much sir. is there a treatment for this disorder?" i heard vena speak out.
i just sat in confusion and shock. i couldn't believe i was in an actual coma. i was even more shocked to learn i blacked out while i was on the road. I've never had that happen before so it was confusing.
"There is not a treatment for this case, she may regain her senses but only time will tell. for most cases its highly unlikely." i heard the doctor speak out.
i heard them stop as i felt a wet tear fall down my face. "oh mori my love, don't cry its gonna be okay. your gonna recover, i'll do everything in my power to make sure of that." vena spoke out to me before sitting on the hospital bed.
"i'm just gonna leave the room for a second, benjamin is here and wants to talk to you in private. i promise i'll be back in five minutes." vena said as i felt her get up off of the bed.
i felt a heavier dip into the bed, i felt more tears dropping as i knew it was benjamin. "baby i'm sorry, i know you probably don't wanna hear me right now but i'm telling you that picture was old. it was from 2020. i didn't even have my dreads." i heard him speak out.
"please forgive me, this is all my fault." i heard him say before kissing my hand. i don't know what gave me the strength, but i was able to squeeze his hand.
"mori?" i heard him say. I was fighting so hard to awaken, but i couldn't.
