An eerie silence had lingered between Yoongi and me for several consecutive weeks, punctuated only by awkward glances that sent us both scrambling to look away. It was as if we were former lovers turned colleagues, working in the same office—and, if things continued down their current path, he might soon become my ex-husband, a prospect that didn't seem too far-fetched.

“Yoongi, dear, I got you lunch,” a voice chimed in, grating on my nerves. What was wrong with her? She hadn't been this affectionate towards him until recently. “Y/N, join us,” she said, her eyes fixed on me with an unsettling intensity.

Shaking my head, I politely declined. “I have an important meeting, aunt. I'll pass this one.” Her brows shot up, her expression skeptical. A meeting during lunch hour? Sounds suspicious.” Her furrowed brows made me wonder what her problem was with me. Was she trying to imply that I was lying?

“Oh! Wait—I get it,” she said, her lips curling up into a smirk. “You're trying to avoid us, aren't you?” The teasing glint in her eye made my skin crawl. What did she want from me?

I forced a half-hearted smile as she chuckled and opened the tiffin, her eyes gleaming with a knowing glint. “You're meeting up with that rich boyfriend of yours for lunch, aren't you? Young kids always shy away these days.” I chose to walk away, not wanting to explain myself to her or anyone else for that matter.

As I entered Jin's cabin, I let out a frustrated sigh and accepted the water bottle he offered me. I chugged it down in one go, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. Jin's eyes crinkled at the corners as he nodded sympathetically. “Seems like she's at it again, huh?”

I nodded, still feeling the tension in my shoulders. How do you even manage to tolerate her?” I asked, curiosity getting the better of me.

Jin shuddered, his skin breaking out in goosebumps.Let's not go there. It was a horrific experience. I'm just grateful to be staying at my fiancée's place these days, away from all the drama.” His eyes clouded over as he remembered Mrs. Min's constant taunts, and he couldn't help but thank his lucky stars for escaping unscathed.

I forced a half-hearted smile as she chuckled and opened the tiffin, her eyes gleaming with a knowing glint. “You’re meeting up with that rich boyfriend of yours for lunch, aren’t you? Young kids always shy away these days.” I chose to walk away, not wanting to explain myself to her or anyone else for that matter.

Jin shuddered, his skin breaking out in goosebumps. “Let’s not go there. It was a horrific experience. I’m just grateful to be staying at my fiancée’s place these days, away from all the drama.” His eyes clouded over as he remembered Mrs. Min’s constant taunts, and he couldn’t help but thank his lucky stars for escaping unscathed.

“You should get married to her soon. You never know who’ll steal her away? Give her the commitment she deserves.” It had been three months since he got engaged, and I could sense the eagerness in his voice.

“I want to marry her this very moment,” he exclaimed. “However, I want this to be a special occasion, so I’m preparing for it and taking her inputs into consideration. Hopefully, we’ll tie the knot before the year ends.” I rolled my eyes and snatched a bite of his lunch, a habit I had developed recently. Avoiding Yoongi and chilling in Jin’s cabin had become my go-to escape.

“Good luck with that,” I said with a smirk. “Just make sure you don’t impregnate her before the wedding.” Jin’s ears turned bright red as he slapped my forehead the next second. “Hey! Stop talking nonsense! I have decency. There’s no way I’m letting her walk down the aisle with a heavy tummy. She’s excited for her wedding dress, and before such a circumstance occurs, she’d bury me six feet under. That wedding dress is not something to be joked about.”
