A Friend to a Lover

And we are now in senior high school.

We have this new classmate who's also our schoolmate when we were in junior high school, a responsible student whose name is Bruce.

A man with good looks and a good heart.

A very low-key person and very calm.

BRUCE: Isla, let's review.

ISLA: Do we have a quiz?

BRUCE: Yes, in English.

ISLA: Oh, I'm not aware. Alright, let's review.

Study, study, study ---

Obviously, some similar characteristics have contributed to our friendship.

One day, I received a text message from Bruce.

I don't know with whom he got my number.

BRUCE: Good evening, Isla. This is Bruce. When are we going to have our group meeting in Arts?

ISLA: Hi. I don't know. I'll ask the other members.

-

BRUCE: Good evening

ISLA: Good evening

BRUCE: What are you doing?

ISLA: Just texting. How about you?

BRUCE: Texting

-

Study, text, study, text.

That's how I illustrate my status with Bruce who I think is just like Vincent.

He's the one who texts first, showing motives that he likes me, but is not directly telling his personal feelings.

Why are men so weak these days? I was like, Why waste your time?

Going back to Vincent, even if we've not been in an official relationship for more than two years, as I am not allowed to have a boyfriend yet, I have felt a love for him. And he means so much to me.

We've continued our talks, he gifted me presents occasionally, and he expressed his love in the ways he could.

But sometimes, love is not enough. Due to personal differences, arguments, and a lack of physical closure, and I'll be very honest, due to being infatuated with Bruce, I fell out of love very quickly.

Vincent felt so much hatred against me for leaving him out of the blue.

And I tried to understand his feelings, for I knew how much he loved me.

But I guess he should also understand that there are traits that I find hard to deal with.

And if only we had enough closure, I might have stayed with Vincent, but that's just life, everything happens for a reason.

One day, as usual, I received a message from Bruce...

BRUCE: Good evening

ISLA: Good evening as well.

BRUCE: What are you doing?

ISLA: Just texting. How about you?

BRUCE: Texting and reviewing notes

ISLA: Then?
