Peter felt his heart skip a beat. “Alright, Cindy. Take a breath. Carnage has a bunch of pissed off mini-mes running around the city right now. Does it look like one of them, or is big and ugly there in person?”

“I-I don’t know,” Cindy said, her voice shaking a little bit. “He’s cackling and… and I think he’s already killed some of the guards. I think he’s looking for something. Oh god, is he here for me? How did he find out?”

Peter’s stomach dropped like a rock. “I don’t know. I thought he was on his way to the Raft, but apparently I missed the plot somewhere. Where are you?” Then he paused. “Actually, wait a second. I’m going to patch you in so I don’t have to repeat everything you’re telling me.” He tapped the earpiece and fiddled with the HUD for a few moments. “Okay, you’re good.”

“E-everyone’s there?” Cindy asked, hesitantly.

“We’re here, kiddo,” Felicia said. “I’m suiting up right now. What’s the situation?”

“I’m the same age as you,” Cindy muttered, barely loud enough for anyone to hear her.

Peter shook his head. Not the time. “Carnage at Web Corp. Actual Carnage, unless it decided to make a stronger offshoot to attack a pharmaceutical company for… reasons.”

“Stellar,” Felicia muttered. “Well, I don’t have to go to the Raft at least. Anything special you need me to bring, Spider?”

“See if I still have any sonic gadgets hidden in the closet. I might have something that will help us take him down.”

“Oh, more toys in the closet? For me? I knew there was a reason I liked you, Spider.”

Peter coughed awkwardly. “There are other people on the line,” he reminded her. “Anyway, not the point. Cindy, what’s going on there?”

“Okay, okay.” She audibly took a breath. “I think he was one of the guards. He ripped up security and tore up the lower floors before it started prowling around. Now it’s… it’s like he’s looking for something.”

“Not a great sign,” Gwen said, sounding slightly out of breath. Her own Carnage must have been giving her a run for her money. “But that should mean you have some time. Where are you now?”

“Hiding in my apartment. I didn’t know where else to go. I-it’s not going to be enough to keep him out, is it?”

Peter grimaced. “Not forever,” he admitted. “It’s fine though. How’s your wall crawling? Can you get out a window?”

“Uh… it’s okay?” Cindy did not sound particularly sure of that. “I’ve never done much more than hang out on the ceiling sometimes.”

“Everyone does,” MJ said fondly. “Something about being part spider makes it oddly comforting to just relax on the ceiling sometimes.”

Cindy forced a chuckle out. “Not sure it’s comforting enough right now.” She swallowed hard. “Alright. Alright, I can do this. I can do this.” There was a sound of shifting metal and a long slow breath. “Okay. I’m outside. Oh wow, the view’s even better from outside.” She let out a slightly manic giggle. “This is… okay. I think I can do this.”

“Wow, no fear of heights,” Peter muttered as he caught himself on another line. “Lucky. I had to deal with that the old fashion way.”
