[ FALLEN FEATHERS | CHAPTER 6 ]

{ First person POV }

I was going back upstairs when I heard another pair of footsteps behind me.
"What are your intentions?"
Vaggie's voice startled me, I turned around.
"My... intentions?"
She quickly stepped towards me.
"I've dealt with Alastor, I've dealt with Sir Pentious, and I'll deal with you. I know what you are."
My stomach dropped.
"This is all a... massive misunderstanding-"
She pulled out her spear, pointing it towards me.
"Massive misunderstanding? You're probably a little spy aren't you?"
I put up my hands.
"No! If anything, I'm trying to help."
I said, frantically.
"Help who? Adam?"
She snarled, coming closer to me with her spear.
"Wait!!! Please Vaggie just give me two minutes and I'll tell you everything you need to know."
Her expression tensed up, but she lowered her spear a little.
"I'm against the exterminations too, most of the angels are! I wanted to fix things myself without Adam or... or Sera or Cecilia... I wanted to handle things peacefully and- and uhh... non-violently."

Her face softened for a second.
"And you aren't lying?"
She said with a raised brow.
"Cross my heart and hope to fly."
I said nervously.
She lowered her spear completely, backing away from me. I sigh of relief escaped my lips.
"Fine. But if you do anything shady, I won't be so merciful next time. How'd you think Charlie would feel if we had some traitor roaming around?"
I just nodded my head, giving her a thumbs up.
She walked off, glancing back to keep and eye on me.
I stood there, even when Vaggie was no longer in sight. I could only think of how she even knew in the first place. Was I really that bad at keeping secrets? I opened my room door, plopping down on my bed, stretching my wings. It was a long day.

{ Time skip to: The next day/Morning }

Vaggie and Charlie had a meeting with Heaven today, and despite being new to the Hotel, I was put in charge. Angel was far too irresponsible to run the hotel for the day, Husk was too busy pouring his own poison, Alastor was just being... Alastor, and putting Niffty in charge is the last thing anyone would want to do. Sooo... that left me! I didn't do anything out of the ordinary or special.

The hotel isn't all that busy, so dealing with customers wasn't an issue. Though, ever since the first visit, Charlie's dad hung around with the other residents. Pretty much all of them besides Alastor, of course. I grabbed a mug and filled it with my desired beverage, taking a sip of it before sitting in the lobby's chairs. I started down at my drink when I felt the coach slightly sink.
"So... you're one of Charlie's friends?"
I looked over to my side, it was Lucifer. It was sort of surprising because even when he was at the hotel, he stayed locked away in his room.

"I think so, yeah. Why do you ask?"
I sat my mug down on the coffee table.
"Oh- oh no reason just uh... thought I'd get to know you! A bit more I mean, all I know right about now is your name."
We sat in silence for a few seconds.
"Well, what do you want to know?"
I asked, not sure what else to say.
He glanced to the side, thinking.
"What do you like so much about the hotel? You wanna be rehabilitated or something?"
I almost gave him the true story, but I bit my tongue.
"Oh, uhh.. yeah. I am."
Another long awkward silence went on between us.
"Do... do you like ducks?"

He said, containing his excitement.
"Ducks are pretty cute, I don't dislike them or anything."
He let out a tiny squeal.
"Well, I was bored and I uhh... I made you somethin."
He digged through his pocket and pulled out a rubber duck that resembled... you!
You looked at it in awe, carefully taking it into your hands as if it were a real duck.
"This is so cute, how'd you make this?"
You said, admiring the rubber duck in your hands.
"Oh it's nothing- like, don't even sweat I just uh... through some random stuff together. Nothing special."
He chucked awkwardly.
"Are you uh... uhm- you know. Are you busy? Like... are you gonna be busy later? As in- uhm. Later tonight?"
He said, resting a hand behind his neck.
"I should be, why?"
You asked, sitting the rubber duck in your lap.

"Oh uh... no reason I just uhh... Not to ask you out or anything that's just- what? Pfft... Crazy! Am I right? But- I just wanted to know, just in case, if I did ask you out. Hypothetically."
His sentence confused you, but you brushed it off.
I turned back around to look at him.
"As friends! As friends, I mean."
He quickly added.
"I don't see why not."
His face lit up, just like Charlie's did at times.
"Great! I have so many other ducks I wanna show you-"
He rambled on for almost hours about all the different rubber ducks he had and all the cool things they can do. Even though it wasn't all that interesting, I listened.
"So... yeah! We could uh... go to my place! You're new to hell's halls, aren't you?"
I nodded, holding his rubber duck in my hands. hands.
"Great! Uh..."
He clicked his teeth, as if he wanted to ask something but didn't know how to say it.
"You died? Uh... recently?"
I nodded again.
"Yeah, why?"
He quickly shook his head.
"Oh no no no, it's nothing! I just uh... you really don't have that 'sinner vibe' to you. Maybe it's just because you haven't been here long enough, am I right?"
He laughed, nudging my shoulder.
"Heh- yeah I guess so. Cecilia says an environment can really rub off on you."
His laughing came to a pause.
"Cecilia?"

I mentally face-palmed as I realized what I said.
"Yeah uh... she's an old friend of mine."
I smiled awkwardly.
"Oh, oh yeah I figured. The name was just a bit familiar. Anywho..."
Another long awkward silence came between us.
"It's uhm... it's getting pretty late, huh?"
He broke the silence.
"Not really, it's only 8.AM."
I said, looking over to a clock.
"Oh! No no no, I knew that... I just uh.. lost track of time is all! Anyway, I'm really *really* busy so uhm... I- I gotta go."
He stammered over his words.
"Of course! I'll tell Charlie you let when you get back."
I said, getting up out of my seat to lead him towards the door.
"I'm glad you two get along so well."
I tilted my head.
"How come?"
His eyes widen.

"Well, I guess it goes with anyone she befriends. Besides... what was his name? Alaska... Alastor? He sucks- but you, I like you. I mean, you actually seem like a good influence for her."
I smiled at his words.
"I think you've done a great job influencing her as well. She's wonderful! I haven't met anyone as nice or energetic as her before."
He shook his head smiling.
"Oh no, that was all uhm... that was all Lilith. I just sort of was.. there, yknow?"
I glanced at him with a sympathetic frown.
We continued walking to the entrance, and I opened the door.
"After you, you're majesty."
He laughed, walking through the door.
"Keep an eye on Charlie for me, alright? I know Vaggie's doing great but, keep an *extra* extra eye on her. She's so...gullible and naive Id hate to see something happen to her."
I smiled at him.
"Of course! She'll be just fine, alright?"
He smiled back at me, nodding.
As an angel, it would be no problem keeping an eye on her- or maybe more than just two. Angels are "all-seeing", aren't they?

I noticed when spell-checking my work- the writing switches in between first person and third version a few times without any notice. I wrote this when I was a lil tired, so don't mind that! Thanks for reading <3
