Jungkook tried to open his eyes, a wave of pain in his head not letting him do so. After a few more tries, he finally managed to have his eyes open, two black eyes looking around, trying to understand where he was.
He lifted his head from the pillow, one hand on the bed holding him up, while he run the other through his hair; the events that happened the day before slowly coming back to him.
The silence of Heaven breaking with the gates closing behind his back, not even a peep out of angels nor demons, except from one voice sounding right before the gates were shut, but he never got to know who they were and what they were trying to say.
He wanted to laugh at the irony of it all; the creatures that would not shut up around him did not even bat an eye when the Almighty decided to kick him out of his own home.
Almighty. Jungkook chuckled at that, he was no almighty to him anymore. He was Seokjin. He was someone who judged him and punished him without even giving him a reason, or the chance to defend himself.
At least he still had his wings.
His wings!
Panicked hands reached to his back, and he got up from the bed in a hurry. His eyes caught a mirror in the corner of the huge room he was in. His feet took him in front of it, his eyes looking but he couldn't see them.
Taking a deep breath before spiraling, he concentrated, eyes closed. When he managed to do that, he heard a whoosh, and when he opened his eyes, he was greeted with two black wings proudly standing tall at his back.
He let out a breath, reaching and caressing his soft yet strong wings. He let himself think back once more, how he ended up in the human realm. Even though Seokjin banished him, he still made sure he would be cared for here. He did tell him that this was not a reward but a curse, Jungkook did not fully believe him.
A knock on his door brought him back from his daydreaming. When he didn't answer, another knock and a "Prince Jeon?" was heard from the other side of the door. Prince Jeon?
Oh.
He remembered now. Seokjin somehow ended up making him the prince of the Jeon Kingdom, and an heir to the throne; making him the one and only son of King Jeon.
"The king awaits. He sent me to inform you that your suitor and her family are on their way, Prince Jeon."
After making sure his wings are not visible anymore, he made his way to the door and opened it. "Good morning, Prince Jeon." The person in front of him bowed down in respect, "Shall I let the King know you are almost ready?"
Jungkook bowed a little as well, and told the servant that he indeed should inform his father, the king, about him being almost ready.
He closed the door once the servant left, and looked around the room. He indeed was a prince now, and in the human realm, nonetheless. He was determined to not give Seokjin the satisfaction of seeing him miserable, though.
So he got ready, putting on his finest robes and the crown that was sitting on a bedside table, and slowly made his way to the king's quarters. His legs were taking him like they had a mind of their own. Seokjin did indeed think of everything when he sent him down here.
Everyone seemed to know and acknowledge him as the prince, bowing in respect and whispering good mornings. He also, inside of him, knew who everyone was, which meant that whatever the Almi- Seokjin did, he also did it to him as well.
It was like he created all of this, the kingdom, the family, the servants, the guards, for Jungkook to fit right in. So fit in he will.
Once he was in front of huge doors, two guards waiting to open them for him, he lifted his head high. If he was given the role of a prince, he would gladly play along. And once, years later, all of these perish, he will make a life of his own choosing. He would not be playing by the rules Seokjin had set up for him.
The guards opened the heavy looking, big doors, and Jungkook was hit with a lot of things at once. For starters, there were many people gathered around a huge table, with the king sitting at the head of the table, the queen to his right and an empty seat, Jungkook assumed it was his, to his left.
There were a few guards here and there, but there was also a family of three, a man, and two women, one younger, that looked like they belonged to another kingdom, if the clothes they were wearing were an indication.
Right then, the voices of the servant echoed in Jungkook's brain "your suitor and her family." This lady was here to be wed to him. Stopping his thought, Jungkook gave a bow and then took his seat beside his father.
All of them were looking at Jungkook with love, adoration and respect in their eyes. So the part of the supposed curse about everyone loving him was not a lie, then. He was indeed loved greatly.
"Now that Jungkook joined us, we can finally talk about the wedding preparations. The sooner we have the wedding, the sooner our kingdoms can merge." Said his father, smiling at Jungkook and then to the other man in the room, who apparently is the king of the neighboring kingdom.
Jungkook dared to take a better look at the princess he was supposed to be marrying soon. She was pretty and Jungkook could see himself maybe feeling something for her, but all of his research and his observations made him cautious about the human beings.
Still, he felt a warm feeling in his chest, he didn't want to upset this person in front of him. She was not at fault here, this was all Seokjin's doing after all.
Realizing everyone's eyes were on him, he cleared his throat, "Yes, father. Let the wedding preparations begin. I'd like to be wed within this week, if that is also acceptable by my future bride." His eyes fell on the princess once again, a shade of pink dusting her cheeks, and she nodded.
"Alright, then!" his father said, clapping his hands once, "Let it be announced to all the kingdoms around, we have a wedding, exactly one week from today!"
Jungkook sighed, his hand massaging his forehead.
Maybe he was cursed, afterall.~•~
