Then It Is Love

CHAPTER THIRTEEN

The accomplished and respected Military general, Alex Joss, who once valued his moments of tranquillity amidst his demanding responsibility now has a new and favourite routine.

Ever since the day they professed their love for each other, this was their third meeting in the Serene and secluded spot of the bamboo grove where they find solace and serenity. 

It wasn't long until general Alex came to find refuge in the bamboo grove with his beloved, away from the bustling barracks, and he stood waiting for Lily who he already made an appointment with the day before.

The quiet rustling of bamboo leaves and gentle sway of branches created a soothing and natural atmosphere, accompanied by the light and hurried footsteps the general delightfully awaited. 

Soon a soft and simple looking girl with pure eyes and petite and beautiful pear shape came into the view of general Alex. She was dressed in a simple cotton dress of common quality, yet it didn't hide her natural beauty or purity. Her hairs were a bit longer at the waist and her feet cladded in cotton padded shoes. 

On sighting her lover, the young girl happily ran to him, into his arms as she felt the warm and welcoming embrace of the man to whom she had reliably and trustingly entrusted her complete heart to cherish.

"You came" she chipped excitedly.

"Yes. I told you I would." the chuckled at her childish actions.

Luckily, all those, friends and foes, that knew him weren't there, else they would have been shocked dead and speechless at his never seen soft gestures and rare smiles.

When general Alex and Lily Sam found themselves seated on the wide soft patch of moss beneath the shade of the towering bamboo tree seated on the deepest region of the grove, the dappled sunlight filtering through the thick foliage casted a warm glow on their faces. The air was infused with the earthy scent of bamboo, creating a warm and calming ambience, as both found a cosy spot, nestled and reclined in each other embrace.

As Lily Sam was resting her tilted head on the broad and strong shoulder of the general, the doting man gently caressed her thick and long dark hair from the back.

As they held each close on the mossy ground, they felt the warmth and comfort of their embrace, and the unison beats of their hearts.

While their closeness created an intimate sanctuary, both began to share, in whispers, their thoughts, dreams and deepest emotions and affection. 

The interval moments of silence that ensued between them now and then, when words were unnecessary, was devoid of any awkwardness, but filled with warmth and ambience, which they both relished.

They were both fully immersed in the stillness of the bamboo grove, absence of noise and chaos, and serenity of the surrounding environment.

Both were taking time to appreciate the beauty surrounding them, gazing up at the tall bamboo shoots that swayed gently in the breeze, and the harmony of the designs of nature.

As both expressed their affection, sharing tender words and affirmation, they found more stronger solace in their unwavering support to each other.

Gradually, seconds clocked into minutes, and minutes into hours. As the sun was about to set, general Alex knew he must release his beloved, despite the reluctance from his heart, as she had parents yet to know about their budding relationship. 

He didn't want to implicate her nor soil her reputation, and neither did he want her parents to get the wrong impression of him should they find out now about him, which he didn't want, as he had his private problems to handle at the capital first before giving her the rightful name and honour she deserved.
