I am enough
I am beautiful
I am worth it
I am confident

I look at myself in the mirror as I repeat the words, lately I'm beginning to mean these words and it's actually a big deal for me. My therapist was extremely happy after our last session, according to her, I have improved a lot.

I don't know, but it feels like everything is beginning to look up, as if a mighty being somewhere suddenly remembered I existed.

I couldn't help but smile as I applied lip gloss, after a year and six months of staying home, I'm starting to look for work again, and because luck is on my side, I landed one of the biggest companies in the city, I just hope this interview goes as planned.

The sound of my ringtone breaks me from my sweet time with myself.
- [ ] Me: What?
- [ ] Bel: is that a proper way to say hi to your bestie, the love of your life.
I roll my eyes in annoyance
- [ ] Bel: you better not be rolling your eyes at me over there young woman
- [ ] Me: remind me why I am friends with you again
- [ ] Bel: because I'm the sweetest, calmest, loveliest person you'll ever meet on earth
- [ ] Me: you're extremely annoying. So why did you call
- [ ] Bel: I called to wish you luck on your interview
- [ ] Me: awwwn, aren't you the best
- [ ] Bel: you could say that again. And also...(there's a long pause)
- [ ] Me: Just say it Bel, I know there's something you've been dying to ask me these past few weeks
- [ ] Bel: have you heard from mystery man
- [ ] Me: really? You're asking me that now. I'll tell you this for the last time. The last time I set my eyes on him was that day at the club six months ago, and I haven't seen him since. And it's probably a good thing
- [ ] Bel: you sure about that
- [ ] Me: I am sure, and please get off my phone, some of us have interviews to attend to today
- [ ] Bel: whatever, call me after your interview
- [ ] Me: alright, I will mom
- [ ] Bel: love you
- [ ] Me: get out

My mind travels back to six months ago at the club, the thought of him makes me feel giddy even now. His touch, his kisses, it's like they're imprinted on my mind. I've not been able to get him off my mind ever since. I can't believe he didn't take my number, and he doesn't even know my name, Dammit !

After I say a word of prayer I step out, finally ready to face what's ahead of me

The building is gigantic, it stretches high into the sky, with multiple levels and sleek, glass windows that create a sense of transparency and openness. The exterior is adorned with a combination of steel and glass, giving it a modern and sophisticated look, and at the entrance, you notice the company's logo . The landscaping around the building is meticulously maintained, with lush greenery and vibrant flowers adding a touch of elegance.
I've seen K&C corporation on televisions and in news papers, but standing in front of the building right now, I feel like those pictures and videos did not do justice to the building.

The interior is bustling with workers who look like they have no time to even breath, People are moving swiftly, multitasking, and collaborating. The air is abuzz with the sound of keyboards clacking, phones ringing, and the occasional burst of laughter. The walls are adorned with motivational quotes and colorful artwork, adding a touch of vibrancy to the space. And suddenly I feel alive and ready to work.
I already know what floor I'm supposed to go to so I'm already heading to the elevator as soon as I get in.

I'm a sucker for punctuality, even now I'm 30 minutes early for my interview.

When the elevator door slides open, I file out like the rest of the people and immediately find the receptionist desk. I tell her about my interview and she directs me to another elevator to take to the highest spot.

I adjust my dress and take a good look at myself through the elevators reflection as it goes up, it's something I do when I am nervous.

Working as a personal assistant is a big deal, and working here, would be the biggest deal. As soon as the elevator dings, I step out, the top floor is magnificent, it has many built in offices, and the good thing is, you don't really see people walking around like I saw on the ground floor. The atmosphere feels serene

I take in a deep breath and with the directions in my head, I find the COO's office. I repeat the words of affirmation in my head before I knock. It doesn't take more than 5 seconds to hear a feminine voice ask me to come in

The first thing I noticed when I entered the office was how spacious it was. The office is filled with luxurious furniture, like plush velvet sofas and chairs, all in rich, deep colors. There's a massive mahogany desk that stretches across the room, accompanied by a matching credenza and bookshelves filled with leather-bound books. The office is bathed in soft, warm lighting, creating a cozy yet sophisticated ambiance.

After a quick inspection of the office, I finally direct my eyes to the woman behind the desk, she's stunning, for some reason I expected her to be older.

She clears her throat after a while of me openly checking her out without a word
"I'm sorry, my name is Saraphina Johnson and I am here for the interview"

She takes her time to look at me from head to toe in a very calculative and intimidating gaze.
"You may sit"

"Thank you" I settle down in the seat before me.

"Can I have your CV" ow, straight to business, I like that, i ransack through my bag and hand it over to her.

"I believe everything here is true, correct"
"Yes ma'am"
"Are you married"
"Sorry what?" the question took me by surprise, how has my being married or not got to do with  the job. But of course, I kept that thought to myself

"Are you married?" She repeated herself, giving me the I'm not going to repeat myself again look.

"No, I'm not"
"Fiancée or boyfriend"
These questions were strange, I mean, that's not what I was expecting from an interview

Before I am able to answer that wierd question, the office door is forcefully opened. The intruder has the woman at the desk standing up in an attentive position

"Why are you taking over this interview, that is not your job" the voice sounds very angry, and I'm actually scared to even look back to see the source of the voice

"I wanted to make sure I get the best candidate for you" she replies agitated.

"I don't have strength for you this early, I'll ask you to kindly get out"

"Why can I not do this for you, I am your wife"
Woah, this is getting more interesting than I thought

"You're my wife doesn't give you the right to do my interviews for me, you've fired 4 of my staff within a year, and I'm not about to let you take over my interviews too, you have no right"
Woah, that sounds like an insecure woman right there.

"How could you ..."
"Rose" the man's voice sounds more venomous now, like if she disrespects him again, he's going to throw her out himself
Woah, what a morning.

The woman angrily grabs her bag and then stomps pass me in a very childlike way, the door closes loudly after her.

Ow lord, do not let his foul mood affect my interview please, I silently pray in my head, this is the kind of job I need right now and I definitely do not want anything to spoil it for me.

I hear the man take in a deep breath to calm his nerves and then he walks over to the desk, "I'm sorry you had to see that" he apologizes before he lowers his body down to the chair.

It is now my turn to lose my breath, suddenly I'm unable to breathe, I am staring at him dead in the eyes, and within seconds his eyes also widens in realization

"Mystery"
