Chapter 3- Unlikely Friends

Three days passed, and Jake's grief over Sara Chilese's death had subsided. Everyone was slowly but steadily continuing with their lives, however, no one had forgotten about the murder. The murder had now become a part of the town's history, and the case was left unsolved. It was a Saturday. A Saturday morning... Jake's mood was all over the place, he felt anxious and nervous at the same time. Jake decided to go in the bathroom, to wash his face to clear his head, thinking that it would help him feel better.

When Jake finished washing his face, he saw a familiar figure. a ghostly figure. Jake froze in fear, seeing the ghostly figure. It was Sara Chilese, her spirit appearing before him, again. She wasn't hostile, but her presence still filled Jake with fear. He was scared to breathe, scared to move, scared to do anything, afraid to even blink. "Jake..." her voice echoed through the room. Jake's breath caught in his throat, the fear and anxiety coursing through him once again. "I need to tell you something..." Sara spirit spoke softly, as the room became silent, and the only sound was her voice. It felt like time had stopped, with every word she spoke hanging in the air.

"I forgive you..." her voice sounded faint, yet strong. It was like her spirit. A few hours later, Jake decided to go for a walk, to get some fresh air, Sara spirit followed Jake. "Hey, Jake." Jake looked to where the voice was and he saw Joshua. "Hey Joshua," Jake replied. Joshua and Jake chat for a bit. "Hey, wanna come to the studio?" Joshua asked Jake. "Sure, I have nothing better to do." Jake followed Joshua to his band's studio. "Do you like Joshua?" Sara curiously asked. "NO!"

"uh. Jake, did you say something?" Josua questioned. "n-no I didn't." replied Jake, "Oh okay... it might have been my imagination". Jake thought to himself, how could I have said that out loud? I didn't think Joshua heard me. Jake had finally arrived at the studio, he saw Joshua's band members.

"Hey Josh-man, who is the new guy?"

"oh he's just a friend of mine from school," said Joshua, "Im just bringing him here just to hang out."

A few minutes later, Jake watched Joshua and his band trying to make a song. "UGH. I can't find another idea for song lyrics.." Joshua complained. "Um.. may I ask what the song is about?" Jake asked. "It's a song I'm making called Heart of Stone, I'm trying to think of other lyric ideas.. my other band member can't think of other lyric ideas.."

"why don't you try, "I thought we had it all, but now we're watching it fall, Like a house of cards, crumbling down, hitting the wall,l We used to be inseparable, but now we're unrecognizable, Our love's like a fire that's no longer ignitable" how's that?" Jakes asked. Joshua and his band's eyes widened in surprise, "Jake, do you write music for people or something?" Joshua questioned. "Well... no," Jake replied.

"Dude. those lyrics are amazing and perfect for our song!" Jake's face widened in surprise. Jake didn't know what to say at that moment, he felt like he was going to cry, Jake didn't know how to explain it, but, when Joshu complimented him, Jake felt this warmth that went straight through his heart.

It was time for Joshua and his band to play. Jake was in the front of the crowd, listening to the music. Joshua's voice felt like a spell, his voice held Jake captive, it felt like a dream. People were cheering, the floors were shaking, girls were screaming, and it all felt like a fever dream to Jake.

After the concert ended, Jake smiled, and he felt ecstatic; he couldn't believe it, a famous band, his lyrics used his lyrics! "I Wanna give a big thanks to everyone who came!" Joshua said. "I have a special announcement to make, and for this announcement, I have a special guest with me." Jake looked on with eagerness as Joshua pulled Jake up to the stage and, introduced him to the crowd. "He's the one who came up with the lyrics for our song." The crowd cheered for Jake. "You can call me the lyric boy!" Jake said, giving a small bow.

Jake couldn't believe what happened as he stepped off the stage. He had just been on stage with his favorite band, and they had used his lyrics! Jake felt like he was living in a dream.

After the concerts, the crowd slowly dispersed, Jake made his way through the crowd toward the exit. Joshua stopped Jake as he passed. "Jake, can I talk to you for a second?" he asked. Jake nods, and the two-step off to one side.

"I just wanted to say that your lyrics were amazing, and I'm grateful that you helped me with the song." Jake blushed slightly. "T-thanks," he replied. "But I just wrote what was on my mind. I can't believe you used it." Joshua laughed. "Well, it's good that what was on your mind was so good!" Joshua joked. Jake smiled. "Can I have a sec?" he said to Joshua. Joshua raised an eyebrow before nodding. "Sure thing," he replied.

Jake walked over to one of the exits and took a moment to collect his thoughts. He was still feeling overwhelmed by everything that had happened. What had started as a normal outing with Joshua, had ended with his lyrics being used by one of the famous bands. Jake felt a surge of happiness and excitement inside him. He was experiencing so much joy and emotion that he didn't even realize how much time had passed until Joshua came walking over to him.

"Hey, are you okay?" Joshua asked. Jake snapped back to reality at the sound of his voice. "Oh, yeah, I'm fine. I just needed a second to let everything sink in," he replied. "Yeah, I can imagine," Joshua said. "But can I ask you one more thing?"

"Sure, what's up?" Jake said. "Well... I just wanted to say thank you again for helping me with the lyrics. I couldn't have done it without you." Joshua said. This time, Jake's face widened in surprise. "Oh, it was no big deal. I'm just happy my lyrics are being heard." Joshua chuckled. "You're being too modest," he said. "I'm telling you, those lyrics were amazing." Jake shifted his weight uncomfortably, feeling slightly embarrassed. "I just wrote what came to mind," he said. "Even so, they're really good lyrics. I'm thankful to you," Joshua added.

Jake nodded. "I'm just glad you liked them." Suddenly, Joshua smiled widely. "You know, I have an idea." "What's your idea?" Jake asked, curious. "Well, you wrote some amazing lyrics, it would be a shame if they were only used for one song," Joshua said.

"You mean... they can be used for another song?" Jake asked, surprised. Joshua smiled. "Exactly. I think we should use those lyrics for another song." Jake considered the idea for a moment. "That sounds like a great idea," he said, "And I'm happy to help you with the lyrics again."

"Great! Then it's settled," Joshua said, "We'll use those amazing lyrics of yours for a new song." Jake smiled, feeling excited about the prospect of collaborating with Joshua on another song. The two of them talked for a while longer, making plans for the new song. Jake couldn't help but feel butterflies in his stomach as the two of them worked on the new song together.

Joshua's voice was like an intoxicating melody. As they spent more time together, Jake found himself growing fond of Joshua's company. Jake began to feel drawn to the way Joshua looked at him, the way he made him feel special and praised his talent.  It was like, Jake wanted to be around him even more.
