Later after the incident where Riawäni went 'missing' for some time she was scolded by her parents after they had cried their hearts out because they thought she had died. The boy named Sangìk had seen the girl sulking by her house and approached.
He sat next to the girl and asked, "What's wrong?" The girl looked up to the young boy with trembling lips and glossy eyes. "My parents said I can't go out for a week and I have to stay inside!" She exclaimed as if it was the worst thing to ever happen to her.
The boy responded by frowning at the expression on the girl's face and put an arm around her, trying to comfort her. Then he remembered something. "Well it's not all bad.." He said pulling a pouch out and showing her the contents in the bag. Inside was the shiny object she was looking at earlier along with several others.
Riawäni lit up at this and quickly snatched the bag out of the boy's hand and looked, just looked at the inside of the bag with admiring eyes. Before realizing what she just did was rude and finally looked up from the bag and said, "Thank you!.."
Riawäni paused for a second trying to figure out the boy's name. "Sangìk is my name." Riawani repeated the boy's name, hugged him and kissed his cheek. Sangìk blushed at this and froze not knowing what to do next.
Then a voice called from inside of Riawäni's house. "I have to go now! Goodbye!" Riawäni quickly called out and rushed inside. The boy was left there dumbfounded, his face flushed red.
.next day.
——————
Riawäni spent the night making a bracelet out of the jewels the boy gave to her. As a thanks, right? Riawäni wanted to go out but was stopped by a hand. Her Sempul stopped her and pushed her back into the Marui.
Riawäni looked at him with disappointment and asked him, "Pleaseeee!" She attempted even if it led nowhere. "Do you not remember what happened last time we let you out by yourself?" Vangek was a stubborn man but kind nonetheless.
Her Sa'nok showed up right behind him with a confused look and saw Riawäni at the door with her muntxatan blocking their daughter while she had a very pouty face. "What's going on here?" Kxayre always had a very bad memory; she probably didn't even know she had yelled and grounded the young girl.
"She is grounded." The man responded gruffly. "Well that's not fair she didn't do anything wrong. We barely even woke up for the day." Kxayre looked at the man with an angered expression.
Vangek sighed at this and as he was about to argue that they did in fact ground the girl Riawäni interrupted him. "I wanna go give this boy a gift!" She shouted suddenly.
Vangek looked surprised but then anger overtook him. "Who?! I will not have my daughter courting at such a young age!" However Kxarye had the opposite reaction. "That is amazing! Where is he? I want to meet him!"
Riawäni's parents looked at each other. They seemed like they were about to argue when Rawäni took the opportunity to escape. She slipped right past her parents and ran out to the beach when she realized she didn't know where Sangìk would be.
"Oh well, I'll just wander around till I find him."
Riawäni proceeded to walk around the island looking for the young boy but was immediately distracted by one of the ilu's cooing at her to come and play. She played with it for a while not noticing someone creeping up behind her.
-SPLASH-
A large sound of water being jumped into sounded throughout the afternoon. Sangìk had bumped onto the girl, making both of them fall into the water.
It took Riawäni a second to process what just happened. She spat out the water from her mouth and cleared her face of the water. Her hazy vision cleared and she saw a shadow standing over her. Looking up she saw the boy she was looking for.
"Hey!" Riawäni exclaimed, forgetting about her mission and the attack. They both stared in awkward silence before Riawäni broke out into a small giggle that turned into both of them breaking out into full blown laughter.
"What are you doing out here? Weren't you grounded?" Sangìk had a confused look on his face. Riawäni only laughed nervously and finally remembered what she was doing before the ilu. Riawäni turned around finding the pouch and dug through it.
Riawäni pulled out a (horribly made) necklace. Its weaving was crooked and splitting. It was made with leaves, shells and a gemstone and showed it off to the boy. Sangìk's confusion only showed more "Who made that? It is terrible weaving! I could do so much better." (Ohhh you done messed up now buddy boy.)
Riawäni's smile faded before her eyes started filling with tears, her face trembling. "I made it.. for you." Her voice sounded hoarse with a cracking voice. Sangìk looked surprised and immediately retracted his words.
"Ah well I mean it is not terrible! It is so unique I have seen nothing like it before. Maybe that's why I thought it looked weird." (Don't try to do this now.) The boy bent down to the girl's level and put his arms around her trying to comfort the crying little girl.
This made her calm down just to say a few words "You m-mean it?" She said through sniffles and hiccups. The boy was relieved for a bit looking at the girl in the eyes. "Yes, it is wonderful I will wear it everyday from now on." Riawäni smiled at this and hugged the boy knocking him over in the process.
They both laughed while Sangìk reached into her pouch and grabbed the necklace. It took him a second as the necklace's strings were messed up, but he eventually got it. It looked... Gorgeous on him! At least that's what Riawäni and Sangìk thought.
As the sun went down and the moon came out they both returned to their respective mauri. When Riawäni returned she again got a scolding but on the other hand when Sangìk went back he was greeted with... no one
After Sangìk's parents had been banished for plotting to kill the Olo'eyktan and Tsahìk, they felt bad for him because he was just a child and with no other family members alive they gave him a mauri. Previously they tried to get Sangìk to live with them but he didn't want to and they couldn't force him. So, they regularly check up on him and teach him even if he rejects them. Some had given him furniture out of pity, but he went to a craftsman and they helped him learn the basics.
He was slowly replacing all the furniture gifted to him with his own right now; it was only the simple things. Like a net or a basket he had tried to make his own blade but failed when he kept making it too thin or thick.
Sangìk sat down on his mat and played with the necklace. He had made way better necklace's than this. He had started making jewelry when he realized he could trade them for favors. Like for fish or for being taught new skills. Sangìk didn't go to the Olo'eyktan or Tsahìk because he wanted to do stuff by himself, to show he could do just fine alone.
Although they had tried he turned them down and tried to do everything by himself. The people were generous; it could only go so far before they stopped. He laid down into the bed and felt his eyes feel heavier and heavier. Sleep was taking over him and the last thing he saw was the necklace that Riawäni made for him.
