"I'm sorry Wanyin, please forgive me!"

"No." Jiang Cheng said firmly as he kept stomping in the opposite direction, drawing plenty of attention from nearby white-clad disciples who were going about their regular chores. The young Lans looked on in confusion as their usually calm and collected sect leader was running after his furious fiancé.

Exchanging a look with their fellow disciple they all had a single thought on their minds 'Zewu-jun was turning into Hanguang-jun'. It was as though the rules which they had previously held so near and dear to their hearts before they found their cultivation partners suddenly became unimportant once their beloved was near. Needed to catch up to them, why not run? Wanted to flirt, sure why not? Alcohol, how fun!

Whatever rule might inhibit them from fulfilling their own, or their partner's wants and needs suddenly disappeared from their minds as though they had never existed in the first place, much to the chagrin of the still rule-abiding Lan Qiren.

Reaching out Lan Xichen caught hold of the Jiang's robes and finally got him to stop. "Please Wanyin, I only did it because I love you" he whispered, trying to not embarrass his lover by having the words overheard by any of the nearby Lans.

"Well I love you too. Now let go of my sleeve before I make you. I need to go apologize to Lan Qiren" Jiang Cheng growled underneath his breath, also trying to keep his words hidden. But his emotions were nowhere close to being hidden, they were on full display in his eyes which shone with fiery fury. Lan Xichen had committed the most terrible sin of all, he had embarrassed him in front of his future in-law.

Their leisurely walk which should only have lasted a maximum of an hour had taken quite a lot longer than originally expected. Not only that but Jiang Cheng hadn't even finished the walk. Exhausted from their 'walk', he had fallen asleep and been carried back to Hanshi in Lan Xichen's arms. All of this would have been fine had it not been for the fact that Lan Xichen had refused to wake him up when Lan Qiren came looking for him a couple hours later.

It wasn't like Jiang Cheng had planned to spend half of the day sleeping and so he had invited Lan Qiren for a meeting to discuss things in preparation for the wedding which was now only two weeks away. But instead of meeting his future in-law the old Lan had been met by his nephew who told him that sect leader Jiang was unavailable and refused to go get him.

Having been informed of this once he naturally woke up on his own, Jiang Cheng was furious. Lan Qiren had already disapproved of their union, for Lan Xichen to go ahead and shake his already fragile relationship with his future uncle-in-law was enraging.

Snapping Jiang Cheng out of his anger was something even worse. Familiar laughter could be heard from the distance as The Annoyance approached. It was the kind of laughter which could only come from one inhabitant of the Cloud Recesses as all the Lan disciples were too well-disciplined to express their amusement in such a disrespectful way. In fact, the disciples were so well-behaved they had all scattered to give the three cultivators some privacy despite standing in the middle of a main road.

"How interesting. My little baby brother has changed his fighting style for brother-in-law. Whenever we fought I never got to hear how much you still like and care for me. I also love A-Cheng very much, but I never get to hear anything but insults. Does this mean you never cared about me!?" Wei Wuxian teased. With his superior cultivator-senses he had of course overheard the words Jiang Cheng's growl consisted of. How Jiang Cheng, despite being in a fury, still took the time to reciprocate Lan Xichen's affections.

"Yeah, yeah. I love you too brother. Now buzz off I have places to be" Jiang Cheng said with annoyance as he pulled his sleeve from Lan Xichen's hand before pushing forward. Only he had been turned around when Lan Huan had caught up to him. The red-faced Jiang Cheng wasn't storming off towards uncle Qiren's place, but rather Lan Huan's. Lan Xichen could already imagine the sound of Hanshi's door getting slammed shut behind him as the upset Jiang stormed inside.
