[Responding to Silas]

My dearest,

I appreciate your response and attempt to answer my question, but I am still not sure what you are trying to communicate.

This sentence may mean that what you said means "thanks", in which case I wonder why you used past tense. Has it lost its meaning? Does it mean a different thing now?

The sentence could also mean that you thanked me for my email and you then attempted to tell me what it meant.

But now you've got me worried. Why couldn't you finish your sentence? Are you alright, love? I hope you are doing well and haven't been eaten by a giant octopus.

Yours truly,
Augustus
