It had officially been a month since Vera had begun living with Andy, and they had both quickly settled into a routine; on Monday-Thursday she would go to the hospital daycare with Miranda, and Andy would pick her up afterwards, but on Fridays, Meredith would take her home with her, along with Ellis, and the two would have a playdate, sometimes a sleepover.
Vera had grown to become very fond of the team, becoming especially attached to Vic and Maya, although she liked Jack, she just hadn't taken to him as she had hoped.
"I just don't get why she likes you more than me. I could be the best Uncle Jack!" Jack told Vic as they got out of the truck from a call they were at.
Vic grinned. "Because she just likes her Auntie Vic more." she teased, spinning around to smirk at him.
"Ah, but she definitely likes her Abuelo more though, huh?" Pruitt said, looking pointedly at Andy, who rolled her eyes.
"Guys, come on, I haven't even talked to her social worker about adopting her yet, and I don't even know if she wants to stay with me." Andy reasoned.
Everyone stopped to look at her. "Dude, two weeks ago she told you that her last name was Herrera. I think she wants to stay with you." Dean said.
Andy thought about it as they all got out of their turnouts, and she really did think that Vera wanted to stay with her. She would ask her about it when she picked her up from Meredith's tomorrow, seeing as she was stuck on a 24-hour shift right now.
Meanwhile, Vera was having the time of her life at Meredith's.
"No, Ver, you can't drink the chocolate." Amelia said, taking the bowl from the 3-year-old's hands, seeing as she was trying to drink the melted chocolate.
"Whyy?" Vera whined, taking a handful of rice krispies and shoving them in her mouth.
"Because we have to use it to make the buns!" Amelia said, moving the rice krispies away, but she only ended up putting them right beside Bailey, who ended up taking an even bigger handful, "Okay, Maggie, you are in charge of mixing the food because these two can't be trusted, and Zola and Ellis are busy doing something somewhere else."
"Right, okay." Maggie said, only mildly confused as she stared at the two bowls that had randomly been set in front of her.
"And I am going to take you to bed, missy." Amelia said, scooping Vera up off the counter top, the little Latina whining as Bailey laughed at her being taken to bed.
"No s'eep, Mia, por favor..." She whined, holding onto her top tightly as they went up the stairs.
"Nuh-uh, Ellis is going to sleep now to, and I think Zola's going to read you a bedtime story tonight, aren't you, Zo?"
They stopped outside Zola's room, where she was helping Ellis get into her pyjamas. The girl smiled brightly. "Yeah, I am! Why doesn't Amelia help you get changed, and then I'll read to you and Ellis?"
Vera nodded slowly, as she enjoyed whenever Zola read her a story, so Amelia took her to Ellis' room, where her bag was with her pyjamas in it.
"Oh, my goodness! Looks like Andy packed you some zeeba pyjamas tonight!" Amelia said, trying to get the girl more excited about going to sleep, but Vera just pouted and rubbed her eyes, so Amelia just got her changed, before setting her on the bed.
She turned around for a second to put the bag back in the corner so that it was out of the way, and when she turned around, Vera was fast asleep on the bed. Amelia laughed softly and shook her head.
"Not tired my ass." She said, gently lifting Vera so that she was under the covers. Zola came in with Ellis fast asleep in her arms.
"They're both exhausted, bless them. Just put Ellis in beside Ver." Amelia said, leaving to go make sure Bailey hadn't eaten all the chocolate on her, because she wanted some.
Back at the station, Vic was on the hunt for Andy, wanting to show her something she thought Vera would like.
When she found her, she was in the gym mid-workout, her vest that she was wearing was slightly sweaty, as well as her forehead, a Vic may have froze when she walked in, completely surprised and taken off-guard.
"Vic, hey." Andy said, setting her weights back on the stand and sitting up. Vic hesitated, looking Andy up and down, "Vic? Are you okay?"
"Um- yeah, yeah. You know what- I'll just send it to you." She then turned and ran out of the room, leaving a very confused Andy behind her.
What the hell just happened?
