POV: Heather Jenson (1977)
Mom: Alright, we're gonna register you really quick.
Mom drove through the camp gate. I do not want to be here.
All I want is to spend my summer back home with my friends. This is so stupid.
Mom: Well it looks fun! Lots of girls your age!
Heather: You know there's still time to turn around and spend the summer at home.
Mom: Oh no that's no fun. I bet you'll love it here. They do all kinds of fun activities.I bet all my friends are going to the new mall, meanwhile I'm stuck here with no AC.
We hopped out of the car. My mom went around to the back of the car to get my duffle bag out and hand it to me. I didn't really fit in with the other kids around me. They had all gotten on their camp uniforms on. It just gets worse and worse. I mean they look generally happy, but they all seem to have friends.
We walked up to a window where an old lady slid it open to reveal a wide grin.
