Me and the girls took a seat at one of the long wooden tables.

Two different girls sat with our group. One had long straight blonde hair, she spoke first.
Julie: Hey guys!! Mae: Julie! Oh my goodness I missed you! What cabin are you guys in?? Julie: Sunflower cabin, right next door to you guys! Nicole: I'm so glad! Cassie, hey! Cassie: Sorry we got here a bit late otherwise we would've come to see you guys earlier. Christina: Guys this is our new camper, Heather. She's cool! Julie: So nice to meet you Heather, we're gonna have lots of fun this summer, I'm Julie, and this is Cassie!

Julie and Cassie
Before we could continue our conversation, an adult stood up at the front with a mega phone.

Ms. Elrod: Hello Campers! Welcome to Camp Willowbrook!
She stopped as the room roared with cheers.
Ms. Elrod: It's looks like we've got everyone here! And as some of you might know we have to begin our fun summer with some rules.
There were a few subtle groans.
Ms. Elrod: For those of you who don't know I'm Ms. Elrod, I'm the camp leader. I have the answers to all of your questions and I know this camp like the back of my hand. But so can also keep it in order. I won't hesitate to send any one of you home if you disobey the rules. For starters, there's clearly no leaving your cabin past curfew at 12:00 a.m. Please refer to your schedule or your counselor for any questions on that. The bell will ring for your meal times, but otherwise your counselor always knows where you're supposed to be and it's their job to help you. Obviously no contraband; alcohol, drugs, offensive paraphernalia, etc. I believe that's pretty self explanatory. There is no PDA allowed on camp grounds. Don't make it a problem. If you would like to swim in the lake, you must have the permission of your counselor and you cannot be alone! There is. i going alone anywhere here at camp! I think that just about covers all the basics. So tonight after dinner we're having our first camp bash of the summer! Campers are aloud to socialize amongst the common area including; the mess hall, the fire pit, and shop, and the lake. But for right now, dinner is served!
Finally, she was done talking. But this bash, might be fun. I can use this as an opportunity to scope everyone out, figure out everyone's deal. Me and my group got up to get in the food line. Dinner was a hot dog and potato chips. The chefs here are really top tier (not).
Nicole: Wow, I see they stopped cooking roadkill, they're really moving up in this world. Christina: They were never feeding us roadkill Nicole. It was just bad. Cassie: You know I think there are new cooks this year, I heard they fired Mr. Barlow. Mae: Oh god I forgot about him, he was a total creep. Wait where did Mindy go? Julie: It looks like she's over there with Brandon. Mae, Nicole, and Cassie: Gross!
I looked over to see Mindy sitting on the table beside Brandon. She twirled her hair like a fool. From what I gathered the girls don't like Mindy that much, and neither do I so far. She tried to hard to impress Brandon. He didn't even really seem that into her.

Right as I stared at the both of them Brandon and I made direct eye contact. Shit. Now it's weird. I looked away quickly and tuned back into the conversation.
Julie: I say we wait a few days before sneaking out. They're gonna be way too vigilant tonight. Cassie: Yeah and we gotta show the new girl our spot. Heather: Your spot? Mae: Yeah we have this secret spot off the Oak trail. It's super good, no one else knows about it besides us and a few guys. There's an old tin awning and picnic table. Christina: A lot of times we'll sneak out there at night. Mindy's too dumb to notice because she usually goes out to see Brandon for hours. God only knows what they've done it that shop.
Gross.
Nicole: Chris, did you bring any alcohol? Christina: I only brought a bottle of vodka, but Brandon will cut us a deal, everyone knows he keeps beers in the back of the shop.
Oh shit, these people aren't how I thought they'd be. Maybe this summer could actually be fun.
Cassie: You guys shut up Mindy's coming back over here. Mindy: Is everyone almost done? I'm trying to head out to the lake and I'm not supposed to leave you all behind. Mae: Yeah, terrible, doing your job, poor thing. Mindy: Shut your damn mouth. Actually don't, shove the rest of your food in it and come on.
We all finished as slow as we could to piss off Mindy, and it worked. I vein started to poke out of her forehead.
