Prity's Narration

Despite the many changes in her life, Prity's feelings for Laxmi remained constant, even after Laxmi married another man. Prity has since become a leading LGBTQ+ advocate in the Indian Parliament, with a particular focus on issues affecting the lesbian community.

In addition to her legislative work, she is an active social activist and a prolific author who explores and challenges traditional norms and the psychological dynamics within LGBTQ+ issues.

Although Prity chose not to continue her practice in psychology, her deep passion for the field has driven her to write several books that analyse psychological principles through the lens of contemporary social issues.

Alongside her professional endeavours, Prity has embraced the role of a single mother, navigating the joys and challenges. Her life is a testament to her dedication to both her personal and public commitments, making her a respected and influential figure in her community and beyond.

Despite the complexities of her life and feeling neglected by Laxmi, Prity sought the support of her old school friends to learn everything about Laxmi's current situation-her marriage, her husband, and her financial circumstances.

It was the night of July 21st, 2037, and the clock was ticking closer to midnight. Prity's fingers paused as she typed "Happy Birthday" to Laxmi. Just as she sent the message, her phone chimed in to announce the stroke of 12:00 a.m.

Memories flooded her mind-how swiftly time passes, how people change. There was a time when they celebrated these moments together; Prity would surprise Laxmi with lavish gifts, earning an initial scold that would inevitably melt into a warm embrace, a tender kiss, and a sincere thank you.

Those were precious days, Prity mused, her heart aching slightly as she placed her phone aside. The screen dimmed, echoing the bittersweet passage of time.

Prity was taken aback when she received an instant response from Laxmi, sparking a conversation between them.

"You remember?" Laxmi text seemed tinged with disbelief, as if she didn't quite expect a reply.

"Why shouldn't I, Mrs. Malhotra?" Prity retorted, infusing her response with a hint of sarcasm.

"Well, we're not exactly bosom buddies, so don't address me like that," Laxmi swiftly countered.

"Oh, but are you now the devoted Mrs. to your loyal husband? It would be rather improper to address you by your given name," Prity couldn't resist a playful jab, teasing.

Continuing the banter, she added, "And if you're interested, I can certainly work on narrowing the gap between us," injecting a hint of flirtation into the conversation.

As Laxmi sat there, a faint blush, tinted with crimson, graced her cheeks, a rare sight after years. Internally, she couldn't help but wonder at the unexpected flirtation. However, she quickly quelled those timid musings, realising she had a parent-teacher meeting tomorrow.

Meanwhile, on the other end, Prity couldn't contain her delight. She knew her plan had worked perfectly. Observing Laxmi online, reading her messages but hesitating to reply, Prity chuckled to herself. After a few minutes of this silent exchange, Laxmi finally gathered her courage and decided to respond.

With a gentle smile, Laxmi composed her response. "I have to prepare for the PTM tomorrow, so I better catch some sleep," she typed, her words reflecting both practicality and anticipation for the upcoming meeting.

Continuing, she added, "And thank you sincerely for remembering my birthday and sending your heartfelt wishes." Her gratitude flowed naturally, like the final touch of sweetness added to an already delightful moment.
