Laxmi

At last, the day arrived-our wedding day, mine and Prity's. I could hardly believe it was real. All these years of hardships, pain, struggle, and longing were finally paying off. Prity's unwavering support had been priceless. I couldn't have asked for anything more than this.

As I got ready, surrounded by my closest friends, I couldn't help but reflect on our journey. My friends came over to help me with my dress, makeup, and jewellery.

I wore the saree that Prity had gifted me on my birthday during that unforgettable parents-teachers meeting. The fabric was rich, white accompanied with a golden border, and it shimmered beautifully under the lights.

The gold necklace adorned with pearls, along with matching earrings and a bracelet, were all gifts from her, each piece a symbol of her love and commitment. It was an unexpected surprise on my so-called wedding day, which now meant the world to me.

The delicate craftsmanship of each piece was a testament to Prity's thoughtfulness and the depth of her feelings for me. Every time I touched the necklace, I could feel her love and support.

My heart raced as I looked at Prity, standing there looking incredibly handsome in her black and white suit. The suit was tailored to perfection, highlighting her strong shoulders and confident stance.

Our eyes locked, and for a moment, the world seemed to fade away. I prayed silently that no harm would come to us or our family.

Thinking back to my past marriage, I felt a surge of gratitude that I had left that abusive relationship behind. My son and I had narrowly escaped a grim fate.

The memories of those dark days were a stark contrast to the joy and love I felt now. I could hardly believe how much my life had changed since then. Prity had shown me what real love and respect looked like, and I would be forever grateful.

My thoughts drifted to the support we had received from our friends. Rahul and Rajesh had been our pillars, cheering me on every step of the way.

Their presence today, their smiles and thumbs-up gestures as I prepared to walk down the aisle, filled my heart with warmth. They had always believed in our love, even when times were tough. Their unwavering support had been a beacon of hope during the darkest times.

Shrugging off those dark thoughts, I took my father's arm as he escorted me to the hall. My father, who had initially struggled to accept my relationship with Prity, had grown a soft corner for her. His support meant everything to me.

Tina walked beside me, while I held the bouquet tightly in my hands. The bouquet was a beautiful arrangement of red roses and white lilies, symbolising the blend of passion and purity in our relationship.

The hall was decorated beautifully. The soft glow of fairy lights, the scent of fresh flowers, and the gentle murmur of our guests created an atmosphere of warmth and joy. It felt like a repeat of my wedding seven years ago, but this time, the right person awaited me at the altar.

I remembered how, on that fateful day, I had accidentally said Prity's name instead of my ex-husband's during the vows. Now, I saw it wasn't a mistake but a sign that we were meant to be together.

Fate had always intended for Prity and me to find each other. It was as if the universe had been whispering to me all along, guiding me towards my true soulmate.

As I reached the altar with Dad and Tina by my side, I saw Avi standing next to Prity, a wide smile on his face. Avi, my brave little boy, who had faced so much at such a young age, looked so happy and proud.

My father bowed in front of the priest and Prity before taking his seat. Prity looked stunning, her eyes shining with love and determination. I felt a wave of emotions wash over me-joy, gratitude, and an overwhelming sense of belonging.

Rahul and Rajesh were in the front row, their faces beaming with pride and happiness. Their cheers and supportive gestures reminded me of the community we had built around us, a network of love and acceptance that had carried us through the darkest times.

As I stood at the altar, ready to take my vows with Prity, I knew this moment was the culmination of all our struggles and triumphs. We were finally here, surrounded by the people we loved, about to embark on the next chapter of our lives together.

Prity's Narration

Laxmi's entrance into the hall with her father and Tina took everyone's breath away. She looked stunning, the embodiment of grace and beauty.

Prity, who had been talking to Avi, now couldn't take her eyes off Laxmi. She was mesmerised, her heart swelling with love and pride. As Laxmi walked through the crowd, her friends cheered for her.

The hall was filled with friends, relatives, and police officers providing protection. The presence of the officers was a sobering reminder of the threats they had faced, but it also reassured everyone of their safety. Rahul and Rajesh gave her a thumbs up, to which she responded with a wide smile.

When she reached the altar and stood in front of Prity, the guests cheered for the soon-to-be newlyweds. Even the IPS officer smiled at the couple, appreciating the love and determination that had brought them to this point.

Prity, for a fraction of a second, turned her head slightly, alert to her surroundings. She had always been vigilant, especially today, knowing the risks they faced.

The priest's voice rang out, "So, Ms. Prity Sharma, do you take Ms. Laxmi Mathur as your lawful wife?"

Prity looked at Laxmi, her heart full of love and determination. She opened her mouth to speak, but her reflexes took over as a gunshot echoed through the crowd. Guests screamed in terror, but a high-pitched female cry silenced them all.

At the altar, Prity immediately threw herself in front of Laxmi and their two kids, instinctively using her body as a shield. Laxmi clutched Avi and Tina, her eyes wide with fear. Blood streamed from Prity's left arm, but she ignored the pain, her focus entirely on protecting her family.

Swiftly, Prity pulled out a revolver from her suit jacket, her eyes scanning the crowd for the source of the attack. Another gunshot rang out, whizzing past her ear and embedding itself in the altar behind them.
