Three bitches attempted murder with their blazing stares as soon as I stepped through the door with Chloe in tow. I was growing tired of this and it wasn't even a week yet.
Although, the classroom for Necromancy was quite gloomy, it was set up pretty much like the rest of the classrooms I've been in tonight. But by far the smallest, this room was noticeably different. It sat on the outer borders of the school grounds and outside the right glass panes was a large open field, lit up reasonably well despite it being night. There were various stations set up but I couldn't make out what each one had.
Clapping at the front of the room caught my attention and I hurried down the short aisle to take a seat. Looking around, I automatically dismissed the three bitches and realised there was no one else other than Chloe and myself. Even Anna who was supposed to be here was not present.
"May I have all your attention please." The woman at the front had beautiful coffee brown hair. Most importantly, the tips of her pointed ears peeked through. An elf. "It's going to be an interesting lesson today and I could care less for those that will momentarily barge in late. Let's get started."
The teacher was about to move off when Bridget's hand shot straight up. Upon given permission to speak from one glance, "I'm sorry, Ma'am, but I think you forgot to introduce a very important transfer student. I believe she sits over there," she said pointing at me. "The poor girl must be so lost knowing no one here," Bridget pouted.
Responding to Bridget's reminder, "Correct me if I'm wrong, Bridget, but you had Sorcery in the morning. I'm well aware that everyone here already knows who Becky Elles is seeing as the gossiping queens, Renee and Nesilia are your best friends."
Finally acknowledging me, the elven woman introduced herself. "I'm Ingrid and I will be your instructor for the rest of this year. Prepare yourself and keep up." I liked this sassy instructor. Straightforward and to the point. And did I mention sassy? More importantly, I loved the bitter face Bridget now wore.
"It will be purely practice today," Ingrid said. After strangely pausing for a while, she said, "Hurry your butts in here."
At that, the doors opened and revealed Anna. Not only her but Ivan who followed behind and... Purple Eyes. No way.
Not saying a word, the three bowed respectfully and swiftly sat themselves down in the nearest available seat.
Resuming as if nothing happened, Ingrid continued, "Make your way outside and await further instructions."
We all stood and made our way out onto the field through the side door and waited. Anna ended up beside me.
"Where were you?" I whispered.
"Tell you later."
No sooner had Anna replied, Instructor Ingrid was before us. "Get into your usual sparring groups and practice what I taught you last time," she issued firmly.
I was just about to move off with Chloe and Anna, assuming as their buddy I would be with them when Ingrid called out. "Except for Becky. You will join Ivan and Lex."
"What?!" I heard Bridget's group exclaim.
"Ma'am, but Chloe and I have been assigned as Becky's buddies," Anna explained.
"I know. She will be with the boys," she reiterated. Before Anna or Chloe could protest again, she ordered, "It's final."
"But why?" Bridget whined. "Ivan's way more skilled than her. She'll never be able to keep up." She didn't mention Lex. So it's the usual cliche of popular bitch wanting the handsome prince.
"I'm not expecting her to keep up," -thanks (!)- , "she will learn from the boys. They will be her mentors. They are more than qualified."
Oh boy. This situation was the worst kind of awkward. I got worried stares, killer stares, a kind stare and uncaring stare all coming my way. And Purple Eyes' actual name was Lex -if I had caught that right. The menacing necro teach did not utter his name once let alone anyone's. To think he was my stalker when he was now ignoring me.
"Hey, welcome to our group," Ivan said with a sympathetic smile.
"Thanks."
"This is Lex. You were in the same class as him for Necromancy."
"And you're the new stalker."
"Huh? New stalker?" Ivan said, confused. Lex said nothing, seemingly paying no attention to us.
"Nothing."
Noticing Lex's unwillingness to join in the conversation -no matter how small- Ivan said, apologetically, "Forgive Lex, he's kind of a... recluse." At that Purple Eyes' jaw twitched. He was listening.
Seeing my repressed smile, Ivan laughed. "Shall we get started then?"
"Yeah." What choice did I have. It seemed that nowadays everything was decided for me.
