'Words' Means thoughts

It was quiet in the castle. It was a rarity for the three kings to not have anything on the schedule. Not a single meeting or even a tourist/feeding was planned. Just sitting in the quiet peace that was the throne room. Since there were no plans, even the three queens were present, instead of their tower, which they usually prefer.

No sound, no wind from the outside, just quiet.

Until it wasn't.

Footsteps came closer, followed by a small thump. The footsteps were easily recognized as two of their elite guards, Demetri and Felix. Yet the small thumping heard was not something they expected as it sounded like a weak small human heart. All six vampire royalty shared a look, almost wanting to confirm that they did in fact all hear the small beating heart, then turned their gaze towards the double doors just as they were opened.

Demetri was the first to enter, his face uncertain. Even as he spoke they could hear the slight confusion in his tone.

"Masters... There is a situation."

Behind him were Felix seen as he was the taller of the two. He looked like he was holding something that was just out of sight behind Demetri. Aro rose from his throne with raised eyebrows.

"I see this is rather peculiar. Felix, what are you holding?" Aro spoke as if he wasn't quite sure that what he thought was true.

Felix took uncertain steps closer to the middle of the room. In doing so he revealed what he was rather clumsily holding. There, looking even smaller in his large hands and muscular arms, laid a baby.

"A human baby?" Caius was growing more confused by the second.

On the other hand, his wife and mate Athenodora took graceful steps towards Felix and the child, a glint in her ruby-red eyes.

"I found him just outside the main doors. Nobody was around, and I couldn't hear anyone leaving or coming. It seems he was just left there."

Felix spoke softly, as to not wake the child. The soft breaths from the child still seemed to pick up, indicating the vampires that the human baby was waking up.

Athenodora, who never really had thought about children since she was human, looked at Felix as her voice was just above a whisper.

"Poor little one, he was abandoned... Can I hold him?"

The shock was shown on Felix's face but with a quiet of course to his queen he, as gently as he could, transferred the human child to her open arms. Caius rose from his own throne, a wary look on his face. He was trying to decipher the look on his wife's face, who looked at the child with adoration.

Trying to keep his voice somewhat stern, knowing what duties they had to keep as the leaders of their species, he spoke.

"We can't keep him here. If the Volturi starts breaking the one rule that needs to be kept, how can we expect others to abide by it?"

His resolve however seemed to die out as Athenodora turned to face him, the now fully awake baby boy looking up at his wife with such kind stormy grey eyes. The same eyes found his own red ones, as Caius went closer to his wife.

In that moment the child let out a small melodic giggle that seemed to go straight to all the vampires unbeating hearts, making a warm feeling reside. All uncertainty and wariness went out the window.
