~Emilia~
"Slipping through the border is the easy part," Jonny assured them.
There was a certain route that wasn't patrolled or was weaker in defences. It allowed their plane to slip through the border by an altitude too high to detect, and too calculated to be caught.
Emilia leaned against the side of Jonny's chair with her arms crossed, sceptical of how easy it was. She watched Jonny through the bottom of her lids as he circled the empty city of Melbourne before heading out to the airport. He looked completely focused, but he was like a cat; his ears perked towards her, sensing that she was watching him. But he quickly shook it off and melted back into his 'no nonsense' attitude.
As soon as they landed, two different groups scouted around the airport to make sure that no one was lurking about. It looked the exact same as it did the first time Emilia was there; plain concrete, overgrown plants snaking out of windows, and not a person in sight.
Their grounded break was aimed to repack their things and get into their gear so that as soon as they landed in their real destination, they could jump out and get to work immediately. They dressed in the tactical gear, which was moderately bulky and heavy, but easy to move in and would serve its protective purpose well enough.
"Alright, Elliot. Take it away," Jonny introduced. There were a few confused expressions exchanged by the others, as they had assumed that it was Jonny leading the mission.
"Thank you," Elliot began, bringing out a stick of chalk from his pocket. "The government building we're infiltrating is one off the books, located in Loveday, South Australia, and has been built over an old internment camp. It's near the border so it'll be just under an hour."
He used the chalk to map out the land, including each entry and place that they could take cover behind. Then included the possible pathways towards the centre building they could take. It ended with a detailed diagram of the floor plan, noting every single room, the contents of each room, and of course the route that they would take. It was very extensive and intricate. He even started adding the probabilities that each room or hallway would be guarded...
"We'll enter through the north side which is less guarded. The fence is electrocuted, but there's a way through it as it isn't turned on all of the time. There's a course along the fence line that shouldn't be lit, then we go through this divert, then along the creek, then to the north exit of the building. The camera has been broken for years and they wouldn't have fixed it yet."
Emilia crossed her arms as she listened in, watching her brother. It invited a spark of pride as his drawings looked familiar. She imagined white walls and framed flags and war badges posted at every turn. But it was quickly followed by the shame of what the familiarity meant.
"Once inside, we'll move through the main corridor and take the stairs to the second floor to meet our two primary objectives. We'll split into two teams, each going to one of the two offices, we'll meet in the middle and go back the way we came."
Jonny appeared next to her in an identical stance; arms crossed over his chest as he watched Elliot's plan with a raised eyebrow. He looked the same as everyone else in their gear, but he still had on his trench coat put over his vest, a gun still strapped across his back. They stood side by side as Elliot explained the intricacies of the security, yet claimed it was going to be easy.
"What's so important about this place that it's so top secret?" Nova asked, crouching beside Elliot's diagram and observing it intently. None of the others knew the proper objective of their mission yet.
"All the bad guys are from this place. All the ones you've been investigating for The Games, the disease... etcetera. Anyway, I know this particular office," he continued, pointing to the corner of the blueprint with his boot. "It'll be trickier than the first one, so I'll take it. Maverick and Bonnie will be with me. The rest of you will be with Emilia to cover the first one. It's easier."
