"they said yes!"MALIA SAT ON HER PARENTS BED. Both of them sitting infront of her. Malia told her parents there was something very important she would like to ask. She was preparing to ask them if she could go to Connecticut to spend some time with Paige.
Her dad finally put down his phone, putting his full attention on to Malia. "So what do you want to talk about princess?" her dad questioned with her mom by his side.
"Yea, why do you look so nervous?" Savannah joked.
Malia took a deep breath to calm her nerves. She didn't know why she was so nervous to ask them. Maybe because she'll officially be telling them about Paige. But it's not like they're dating, Malia is just visiting a friend in Connecticut. That's all.
"So, I have this friend in Connecticut and I wanted to know if I could go to one of her games? And of course you guys wouldn't have to pay for anything, I'll pay for my plane ticket and hotel. It's on the 16th, and I would really like to go since I haven't seen her since Juju's game because of how far she lives, I really just want to spend some time with her."
Her parents were silent as they turned to look at each other with a confused look on their faces. Soon, they both began laughing. Malia sat there with a very confused look on her face, not understanding what was so funny.
"Can I go to the game?" her dad mocked as they both continued laughing hysterically. They both turned to look at Malia, seeing the confused look that overtook her face. She was starting to feel stupid and embarrassed for even asking.
Their laughter slowly died down, Savannah turnt to talk to Malia. "Look honey, I get why you would ask us.. but you're grown. You don't need to ask for our permission for little things like this, of course you could go see your friend." Malia sighed, feeling relieved after her mom's statement.
Malia's whole life she always came to her parents for nearly everything. She trusted them deeply to give her the best advice. That's what parents are for. But not once did she think she could just go out and do things without notifying them at least. They always gave her enough freedom, so she never felt the need to hide stuff from them. She was rarely told no by anyone in her family.
"Also I don't know why you're even talking about paying for a ticket. When have you ever flown commercial?" her dad questioned rhetorically. "I'll get the private jet ready for you so you can leave on the 14th. Is that good, or would you want to leave earlier?"
"I'll book a hotel for you, might be hard to though. Connecticut is kind of an unknown area, any area in particular you would want it to be close to?" her mom spoke as she picked up her phone, opening a google search.
"Uh, yea the 14th sounds good and I just don't want it to be too far from UConn. That's where my friend attends," Malia stated.
Savannah nodded her head in response as both the parents began to look into her phone. Malia took this as the opportunity to slowly exit the room before they asked any more questions about this 'friend.'
"So, thank you guys so much, very grateful." she stated as she stood up, quickly making her way towards the door.
"Not so fast lexi, aren't you going to fill us in on this friend of yours," Savannah questioned, not looking up from her phone once. Malia sighed, saddened at the fact that she wasn't quick enough to exit the room on time. "If me and your dad are going to pay for this trip for you to go see your friend, we should at least know her name or something. And how did y'all meet exactly? She could be a serial killer for all I know. I can't just dump you off to god knows who." she explained.
