Junjie was bewildered by waking up in luxurious chambers, more so than by the opulent surroundings.

He distinctly recalls dying, in great pain. Junjie is bewildered, unsure if this is the afterlife.

Junjie stood up to look around when he noticed the mirror, placed on a table meant for fixing one's self.

In the mirror, Junjie encountered a familiar face. He remembered those yellow eyes with tears rolling down as his feet no longer reached the ground.
Junjie remembers the person before him from the portrayal of the villain's death in the novel 'General Learns Wife Duties', which he despises so much.

It's amusing that he is not appalled to be portrayed as the villain. If Junjie is truthful, Nie Huifen doesn't even deserve the label of a villain; he's more of a disposable pawn than anything.

"Shizun, the wedding is about to start.", a soft and insecure voice spoke from behind Junjie.

It must be Mu Xin, Junjie supposed, Huifen's personal servant boy.
Mu Xin is exactly as described in the novel, thin body, unruly hair, and soft eyes. He looks quite fragile, Junjie can't help but think.

"Then, this one should get ready.", Junjie stood up as Mu Xin opened the wardrobe, and a blue hanfu was chosen.

Junjie had Mu Xin assist him in dressing up and fixing his hair, as he had no idea how to do it himself. The clothing and hairstyles of ancient times were too complicated for him.

A sickening feeling overwhelmed Junjie when he was ready to make his way to the main hall, to attend the wedding.
It's true that he didn't mind becoming the villain and wasn't scared; however, he despises the male lead to the point of disgust.

Junjie sighs, trying to get over the bad feeling, and steps out of the residence, followed by Mu Xin.
He took a glance at the tablet with the name of the residence which read 'Wenrou' and sneered before leaving.

"Shizun, are you feeling alright?", Mu Xin asked with frowned eyebrows as he went to hold his shizun's hand for support.

Junjie has to admit that he feels a little sick, but that's probably caused by his powerful emotions at the moment and only nods in response.

He soon reaches the main hall and stands on the sides, waiting for the groom and 'bride' to arrive.
Junjie dozes off as he tries to remember every scene of the novel, but he gets slightly anxious as he only read the first book. After the death of Huifen at the end of the first book, Junjie decides he had enough.

Mu Xin can't help but stare worriedly at his pale Shizun, who seems to not be mentally present.
When he caught red entering his view, he tapped his Shizun on the shoulder.

Junjie focused on the scene in front of him now, observing the groom and 'bride' dressed in red and adorned with gold jewelry as they bowed three times. One bows to heaven and earth, one to the parents, and one to each other as husband and 'wife'.

The newlyweds took their seats in the center of the hall alongside the old madame, who had an emotionless expression, looking neither pleased nor displeased.
As Huifen was the second husband, Junjie approached the couple and offered the first husband a cup of tea as Mu Xin presented the gift.
"First husband.", Junjie says calmly as he hands the cup with his head slightly lowered as he knelt before his superior.

First husband Qingyue accepted the cup with a small smile, Junjie supposes, he can't see too well through the veil.
However, Lord Jin was staring at him with an unreadable expression as he slowly stood up with his head still lowered.

"Second Husband doesn't seem to feel too well, you're excused from attending any longer.", the First husband said calmly.

Junjie bowed to the three before leaving, luckily the novel portrays the way he has to do so.
As he took a few steps back, ready to turn around to leave, he noticed the old madame also staring at him. But, unlike Lord Jin, her eyes seem sad.

Junjie left the main hall together with Mu Xin as the other people present eyed him. Some stares held pity, some stares held surprise.
All the eyes on him made Junjie anxious. He never liked to be in the center of attention.

Junjie observed the road to the residence diligently, so he would know the way and noticed that the manor was quite beautiful.
He looked at the tablet above the residence once more and asked, "Can I change the name of the residence?"

"Pardon? I mean-yes, but only with the lord's approval.", Mu Xin was taken by surprise, he never expected Shizun to ask that. He found comfort in the new residence's name, chosen by the Lord.

"I see.", Junjie thought of sending Mu Xin to the Lord after the wedding night but that might not be ideal.

Junjie decides to have some tea while chatting with Mu Xin and after seeing the boy isn't surprised it must be a daily occurrence. Who would have thought that Huifen likes to gossip?

"A-Xin, is there any news from my brother?", Junjie asks when he remembers that the Nie brothers used to send letters to each other, and he also remembered that Huifen had a nickname or something for Mu Xin. He prays that the nickname is correct.

"Ah, yes. A letter was sent before the wedding.", the boy says before revealing a letter that was hidden in his sleeve.

Junjie takes the letter and opens it, and he is grateful that the language of this world isn't ancient.

Fen'er,
You needn't worry about Huang Qingyue, even though his family had risen after former Duke Ning fell, the Huang family is no match for us.
Just be obedient for a while and you will soon regain your position as main spouse.
Take care of yourself and contact me if things get difficult

Your Er-Gege

Huifen had gotten his position back for a short time, but it only caused trouble for him.
He is fine with being a second spouse as long as he lives peacefully. Junjie likes drama but not so much when he is involved.

Junjie stares at the letter for a moment before handing it to Mu Xian," Burn it."
It would be troublesome if anyone read the letter.

Mu Xian was very much surprised but obeyed his Shizun nonetheless and wondered what Master Mingjie had written in the letter.
Shizun didn't seem furious, so that could only mean Master Mingjie had written something that others shouldn't read.
