Junjie forgot all about the Jin mansion's matters as he focused on the more important part of this new world. Cultivation.

In his haste to possibly plan Jin Yuxuan's downfall, Junjie completely forgets the novel takes place in a cultivation world.

"Shizun hasn't played for a long time but his skills are still outstanding.", Mu Xin praised with a soft smile.

Junjie gives a small smile," Skills never fade away.", he replied in a firm tone.

His sentence couldn't be more true. He is only able to play the guqin at the moment because of muscle memory, after all.

Mu Xin listened carefully, not missing a single note. He loved the way his Shizun played the guqin.

Junjie held back a laugh as he looked at the amazed face of his discipline. Or more likely servant.
Huifen wasn't a cultivator master anymore, but the second husband of Lord Jin.

"You don't know how to play any instrument?", Junjie asked slightly confused.

Mu Xin was surprised at the sudden question and refused to meet Junjie's eyes.
"This one is stupid...And couldn't play a Guqin.", Mu Xin answered seemingly ashamed.

"However, A-Xin, there are other instruments too.", Junjie began, trying to meet the other's brown eyes, and continued when he got no response," You could play a Pipa or an Erhu. They might be slightly weaker than a Guqin but they're powerful weapons as well."

Mu Xin's eyes lit up and Junjie furrowed his eyebrows slightly. Huifen was a strict master, wasn't he?

"Yes, Shizun.", Mu Xin gave a small smile as he bowed slightly.

"Alright, alright. This Shizun will bring this one's old Pipa and Erhu for you to test, so we will know which one's best for you.", Junjie said softly.

"This lowly one thanks first husband's grace.", Mu Xin said ready to bow down, but when Junjie was about to stop him and correct his mistake in addressing him someone was already on it.

"Why are you thanking the first husband when he is nowhere to be seen?"

"D-duke..!", Mu Xin exclaimed surprised but equally horrified

"My lord.", Junjie bowed, "Please forgive the boy. It was an honest mistake, he didn't mean anything by it."

"It might be as Fen'er says, however those words could be considered offensive towards Yue'er.", Lord Jin says firmly.

"Duke, please forgive this lowly one's silly words...!", Mu Xin said bowing down.

"My lord, please forgive the boy this once.", Junjie is ready to bow as well but is stopped by Lord Jin.

"Alright, alright. Don't act so pitiful, you're making this husband look bad.", Lord Jin says with furrowed eyebrows before sighing.

Junjie stayed silent for a moment before speaking again, "Why is my lord visiting this humble one?"

"Does this lord need a reason to visit his husband?", Yuxuan asked with a raised eyebrow.

"This one didn't mean it that way...It's just that the first husband just married into the family.", Junjie said but didn't detail his words.

Yuxuan stared at Huifen for a moment before finally speaking, "The Nie family is having a reunion tomorrow."

"Is that so?", Junjie smiled, "I'm looking forward to meeting my family."

When Yuxuan stayed silent Junjie realized why the Lord came himself to tell him the news.

"I understand that my Lord can't leave first husband alone since it's been a few days after the wedding and given my new position it won't be convenient for my Lord to visit my maiden family with this one.", Junjie smiled and lowered his eyes.

Yuxuan's features softened and his eyes seemed to hold some emotions Junjie couldn't read.

"However, could this humble one visit his family just this once?", Junjie asked in a small voice hoping the duke would agree.

Yuxuan sighed, "Alright. But you shouldn't draw too much attention."

Junjie bowed, "This one thanks the duke's grace."

Yuxuan frowned, "No need to be so humble, even if you were demoted, you're still a second husband. Stop acting like a low-ranked concubine."

Junjie's eyes widen in surprise, "Yes, my lord..."

Lord Jin nods before leaving quietly the Wanrou residence.

Normally, Junjie wouldn't have cared if he wasn't allowed to attend the Nie Family reunion but he did promise Mu Xin the instruments, and more importantly, he would get to see the infamous, Nie Xinyun.

Junjie didn't know much about him, as Xinyun was a minor character in the first volume and Junjie didn't read the second volume.
Luckily, he read some spoilers, but very few. But Junjie believes he knows enough to not get on Xinyun's bad side, at least.

And who knows? Perhaps Junjie could redeem a villain.

Time flew by quickly and Junjie had to prepare for Nie Family's reunion.
Helped by Mu Xin in a light-colored hanfu and half of his hair tied in a ponytail with a silver hairpiece with very light makeup.

If what Mu Xin said was true, male wives and concubines had to wear light makeup too to make others aware of their status.

Junjie soon met lord Jin at the front gate to get the carriage.

Junjie bowed before the lord," Greetings, my lord."

Yuxuan nodded and looked at his second husband for a moment," Let's get going, it will take a while to reach Nie Mansion."

Lord Jin's words couldn't be truer. It took quite a while to reach the Nie Mansion.

But Junjie couldn't lie, the Nie Mansion was something. It looked very luxurious and elegant.
Now Junjie could understand why Nie Xinyun wanted to become the lord of Nie.

The two spouses entered the mansion, side by side, which surprised the members of the Nie family.

Since Huifen was demoted they didn't think he would be able to attend the reunion.
They became suspicious of Jin Yuxuan's intentions, he did, after all, demote Huifen when the chance had arisen.

The Jin household members may believe that Nie Huifen was demoted due to his actions, but in reality, Yuxuan demoted him as soon as he heard of the emperor's favor and switched to the noble consort.

Perhaps, it wasn't because he had something against Huifen but the Nie family was very offended by his actions.
Especially when the part of his reason might have been the new husband he took in.

"Lord Jin, we weren't expecting your grace.", Lord Nie was the first to greet the spouses.

"Oh? Did you think I would miss a reunion of my in-laws?", Lord Jin replied with a smile.

Junjie glanced at the two and quickly saw the facades displayed by them.

"Father, it's been a long time.", Junjie said softly, trying to ease the tension.

Lord Nie smiled at his youngest," Indeed. This father is happy to see you again."

Junjie smiled gently, knowing that this reunion would be full of drama.
He didn't mind it at all though, he quite loved it.
