(Y/N) had bullshitted her way through and had managed to convince Kusakabe to not give (Y/N) the five hour long detention (Y/N) was declared upon.

Instead, she made a deal with him. The deal was simple and easy; if (Y/N) ran 15 laps around the training field outside under the span of 5 minutes, Kusakabe would let her go.

But if she failed to do so, (Y/N)'s detention would double in time.

"Last lap.." Kusakabe rasped, his voice barely above a whisper as (Y/N) flashed past him, a breeze of air following after her.

Maki, Panda, and Toge were instructed to separately spar with one another on the sideline, but none of them followed the instruction, watching in awe as (Y/N) reached the half of her last lap.

Kusakabe had regretted accepting (Y/N)'s offer the moment she had gotten into a ready stance just three minutes ago.

How was it possible for a sorcerer- no, a human being to run at such an inhuman pace?

Kusakabe doubted that not even Maki would be able to run this fast and long, too.

"Finish line," (Y/N) announced as she took the last step and halted her sprint right in front of Kusakabe, a layer of sweat glistening on her skin.

"Is the deal done?" The same girl asks with a wide grin on her face, and Kusakabe slowly nods.

(Y/N) takes his nod as an affirmative answer, and at the same time a gesture of dismissal, so she grabs her water bottle on a nearby bench before lightly skipping over to Maki.

Maki formed a faint grin on her face, and as (Y/N) approached her more and more, the grin grew wider.

"Maki-san," (Y/N) called out from just a few meters away, waving to the direction of where the other second years were.

Maki waves back contently, dropping Panda from her chokehold to approach (Y/N) at her own pace.

"So, the deal's done?" She asks, biting back a giggle.

"Yeah," (Y/N) sends yet another smile to Maki, but this time, it was a close-eyed smile, radiating warm aura.

Although her body language and facial expression was no different from how she usually was, something was extremely different about her, and it was painfully obvious.

Her usually annoying and cheery voice that was always at medium or maximum volume was much more hushed, and she sounded humble.

Scratch that. No, not exactly humble.

She sounded like a sane person, contrast to her usual aura and tone.

Maki, obviously noticing, paused her stroll for a split second at (Y/N)'s sudden change in behavior.

That wasn't (Y/N)'s usual tone, no. Not even remotely close.

She sounds too calm and tame, like she was domesticated under the span of five minutes. Maki internally thought, comically swallowing her collected up saliva.

Maki swore (Y/N) wasn't like this right before she went to run the 15 laps.

"Is something on your mind?" Maki asks, and (Y/N) doesn't react nor respond to her at first.

(Y/N) seems to be pondering on something behind the smile she was displaying, not making a single movement for a few solid seconds until she exhaled softly.

"I'll tell you later," (Y/N) answered, surprising Maki once again.

What do you mean her phrase didn't include an exclamation mark??
