This story will all be in Nate's POV
P.S. pic is of Nate, in case you didn't knowMy father came home drunk again last night. He had stayed at the bar too long. When he finally decided to leave, he had about two bottles worth of alcohol in his stomach. It didn't bode well with his temper, so therefore he started throwing things around the house. He saw me and told me to get my ass in bed, or he would tear me a new one.
My mother has been missing for about a week now. She does this a lot, due to all the drugs she gets herself on. If you can name it, she's probably done it.
So I was very glad when I got the email about a very inclusive summer camp two hours away that lasts the entire summer. I was scared to tell my father about it though, because I didn't know how he would take it. I was scared that he would beat me senseless, telling me that I'm an ungrateful piece of shit like always.
Of course, my father wasn't always this way. He was once a kind, jolly old man that brought me candy every day. But that all started to go downhill when his best friend passed away. He couldn't cope with the pain, and so he picked up his drinking habit to try and escape it. I love him, but I can't take it anymore.
Instead of telling him, I forged his signature, and turned it into the teacher on the last day of school. She told me that I had to be at the school by 6:00am to board the bus. That wouldn't be a problem, considering my father is a very heavy sleeper, and usually doesn't wake up till 1:00 in the afternoon.
It is currently 5:00am on the morning that I am supposed to leave for the camp. I had just finished packing my bag, and it's gonna take me 30 minutes to get to the school from here. I need to leave so that I can get checked in for the trip. I leave a note for my father and then head out the door, dreading what will happen when I come back to this house at the end of summer.
I grabbed my stuff, and walked out the door, ready to start my summer. I made sure to not let the door slam on my way out. It took me about 30 minutes to walk to the school. Once I got there, I saw kids loading the bus, one by one. Just then, my teacher saw me.
"Let's go, time to get on the bus before you get left here."
I boarded the bus without a single look behind me, thinking that this was going to be the best summer ever. What I didn't know was how right I was actually going to be.
