Drip...drip...drip...The sound of liquid echoes in the stillness, pulling Damian from the depths of a restless slumber. He blinks his crimson eyes open, momentarily disoriented, the weight of darkness pressing down on him like a heavy blanket. Bound and unable to move, he strains against the suffocating blackness that envelops him. As he stares into the void, flashes of crimson light flicker around him, illuminating the faces of fallen worker drones scattered across the ground.
Error codes flicker across their visors, a haunting display of malfunction and despair. Yet, amidst this chaos, an unsettling calm washes over him—a familiarity that wraps around him like a twisted embrace.
His gaze catches on one of the drones, its metallic face contorted in agony. As he squints into the murky depths, recognition strikes him like a bolt of lightning. A bright yellow insignia, vivid against the shadowy backdrop, marks the wreckage, connecting these fallen souls in a macabre tapestry.
Then, a disembodied voice reverberates through the darkness, its tone eerily calm yet commanding.
"Obey my will, and you shall escape the fate of these discarded vessels," the voice weaves through the shadows, laced with a sinister promise. "Embrace the gifts I bestow upon you. They shall be invaluable. Giggle."
Suddenly, Damian jolts awake, the world crashing back into focus around him.
Reality
In the comforting chaos of Damian and Doll's home, he sits up, breathless and disoriented. Rushing to the mirror, his heart races as he locks eyes with his reflection—his eye glows with the same symbol from his nightmare. Panic rises within him, and before he can grasp the full weight of it, the glass shatters under the pressure of his shock.
Though shaken, Damian fights to regain his composure. He knows this affliction—the so-called "Absolute Solver"—yet he has never encountered it before. Gratitude and fear swirl within him, a testament to his survival amid chaos.
Rising to his feet, he glides toward the closet, movements almost instinctual. He retrieves a broom, an unassuming tool for cleaning up unforeseen messes. As he turns, an invisible force catches his foot, and he braces for impact.
Instead of crashing to the ground, he finds himself suspended mid-air, gripped by a powerful force. Confusion floods his mind as he looks down, his waist encircled by the Solver symbol, a manifestation of the power he now possesses.
"What the hell...? Is this one of those 'gifts'?" Damian mutters, disbelief and awe spilling from his lips. Just as quickly as it appears, the symbol dissipates, and he lands safely.
With a newfound sense of determination, he concentrates, willing the shattered mirror pieces to obey. To his amazement, they levitate, drawn by his command. He breathes deeply, harnessing his power, and watches as the shards seamlessly reconstruct, forming the mirror once more. The Solver symbol shifts into a circular emblem as the glass glints in the light.
Exhilaration courses through him, but he quickly pushes aside the thrill—more pressing matters await, like preparing for school amidst the chaos swirling in his mind.
With a final glance at his restored reflection, Damian exits his room, locking the door behind him. He approaches Doll's room, an unsettling feeling creeping into his chest. He knocks gently, awaiting her response, only to hear shuffling from within.
