The Challenge

Chapter 9

I was in a relationship. I couldn't believe it.

A real relationship.

I thought after Leo, I'd never be able to be in a relationship. Leo completely wrecked my self-esteem.

And now, knowing that I'm in a relationship. With none other than Luke Rivers. It was overwhelming, yet beautiful.

I was so happy. After Luke left, I told Lauri who literally screamed at the top of her lungs and started jumping up and down with me. Well I was reluctant, she was THAT strong.

I woke up very tired and checked my phone. I saw that I had a text from Luke. What the hell was he doing awake at 3 in the morning?

I decided to call him. After a couple of rings, he finally answered:

"Hey babe," he said, tired.

"Hey, how are you?" I asked smiling.

"Well I just woke up, so, good I guess?" He said laughing. I laughed too.

"What were you doing awake at 3 am?" I said still laughing.

"Oh, helping Nick get back together with Natalie." He said nonchalant.

I scrunched my eyebrows together, "who's Natalie?" I asked. I was still new to this school and didn't know everyone, and Nick hadn't told me about a Natalie so I was completely confused.

"Natalie Roland, she's in English with you I think." He said.

"Oh, her! Yeah red head with brains! Yeah I know her." I said.

"Red head with brains? Is that how you remember people?" He said, I could see his confused expression from here.

"Well yeah, I can't remember everybody by their names. That's way too much work." I said stating a fact.

"So you just take their hair color and a distinctive trait about them?" He said, trying to understand the whole concept.

"Yeah, like, if I hadn't known you, you would've been: blond boy with the bad jokes." I said nodding my head, even though he couldn't see.

"Hey! My jokes are fantastic, thank you." He said offended.

"Yeah, yeah whatever. Anyways you want to come over?" I asked, biting my lip.

"We saw each other yesterday," he said laughing.

"I don't care, move your ass up here." I said demanding.

He laughed, "I'll be right there babe."

I decided to get ready, I got out of bed and walked to my closet. I put on high-waisted black shorts with a simple shirt that I found laying around in my room.

Luke was already mine, so I didn't feel the need to dress up too much. I put my hair in a messy bun and went downstairs.

I saw that my mom had left pancakes for me on the counter, so I decided to eat them while waiting for Luke

The doorbell rang and I went to answer it.

I opened the door and was greeted by a pair of lips on mine.

He pulled away and said, "Hello."

He looked like a kid who just got offered candy.

"Come in, I was just eating breakfast." I said, letting him in.

We went to the kitchen and he started talking, "So what are today's plans?"

"Well we could just watch movies and cuddle?" I proposed.

"Sure no problem," he said smiling.

"So what's this about getting back Nick and Natalie together? I didn't know they were a couple." I asked very interested in their story, I was a sucker for love stories.

"Well, they met about a year ago. They'd been in the same class for awhile but they didn't pay attention the each other. I remember Nick telling us that he knew there was something different about Nat, and he loved that about her. So he started talking to her more and more, and I knew he cared about her but Nat's really hard to get. She doesn't play hard to get, she is. Very," he said laughing.

"How come?" I said laughing too. It wasn't my fault, his laugh was just too contagious.

"Well, he tried asking her out in a really big way, he made a banner and everything and she rejected him." My eyes widened and I started laughing.

"Poor Nick, oh my god." I said still laughing.

"Yeah, she appreciated it but she was really scared that he was just making fun of her, she didn't want to be hurt. So in the end, he was a bit mad so he went over to her house and they had a big argument but they ended up going on a date and they dated for 6 months. They were really happy, it was actually scary how happy they were honestly. But then, Nat went to a party and her drink got spiked and she ended up kissing Sam."

I gasped, "but Sam wouldn't do that!"

"He was drunk, he didn't know it was Nat. So they didn't do anything because Sam fainted after that. Nat, knew what she did and so she told Nick. He wasn't mad, he knew she was drunk but Nat didn't think she deserved to be with someone like Nick so they broke up. Yesterday Nick found out that it was Sam who she kissed, so I drove him to Nat's house and they talked it out and now they're back together." He said happy for his friend.

"Aww, I'm so happy for them!" I said giddy.

"You don't even know them," he said laughing.

"Of course I do, I know Nick." I said raising an eyebrow and crossing my arms.

He rolled his eyes, "I'll introduce you to Nat, you'll like her."

"Yay," I said like a child, "now let's go watch a movie."

We went to the living room, Luke sat down while I searched for a movie. I didn't know what he would like.

"What do you want to watch?" I asked.

"Whatever you want," he said smiling.

I nodded and took out She's All That, my favorite movie of all time.

I sat down and he put his arm around me. I cuddled closer to him and smiled.

In his arms, I realized I finally knew what happiness felt like.

A/N:
Kind of a filler chapter but I really felt like writing so here!
Next chapter will be staged in December, nothing much could happen between November and December so I decided to just go directly to December and next chapter is a biggie ;)
This chapter was a bit of an insight to Nick and Nat's past.
If you were wondering, Nat is played by Holland Roden, I mean that is who I imagine as Nat so.
Even though there will only be a few chapters left until this story's over, I know it's short but when I started writing The Challenge, I knew I wanted it to be short so :)
