1k wordsThe soft beat of lofi music flowed throughout Elodie Thatcher, or as she preferred, Ellie's top-floor apartment, she was sat at her desk engrossed in writing a child phycology paper while her cozy brown cat, Wisteria, laid asleep in her lap radiating warmth into Ellie's body. The duo had been sat like that for the past two hours, basking in the calm tranquility of the apartment while Ellie work, well that was until one Azzi Fudd barged her way into Ellie's home. Being pulled out of her work as Azzi entered, Elodie sighed, it was times like these she not-so-secretly regretted giving her childhood best friend a key to her apartment.
Ellie got up from her desk chair as Wisteria jumped down from her lap to go greet Azzi. Grabbing her phone from her bedside table she saw a notification from Azzi that read that they were going to a party tonight, not asking but telling. Ellie sighed again, in the little time she had in physically attended her high school she quickly learned that she despised parties. Now a junior in college she had avoided any attempts Azzi had made to get her to go out to party whether it be just the two of them or Azzi attempting to get her to bond with the team by going to a party. She had been incredibly successful thus far, even if that meant she hadn't met some of Azzi's teammates. But something told her that tonight Aziz wasn't going to back down as quickly.
Walking into the entrance area of her apartment Ellie saw Azzi hold Wisteria to her face, giving the cat rapid forehead kisses. In an attempt to save her lovely, slightly distressed cat, Elodie quickly made her present known.
"Hi, Jazzi!"
Azzi looked up from the poor cat, who now had visible lipstick marks all over her face. Azzi was quickly set Wisteria down, her attention turning away from the cat to its owner, Wisteria immediately scurrying away to her hiding place upon being set down, while Ellie had to stifle her laughs about Wisteria's appearance.
"Ellie, the love of my life, oh my Ellie, we are going to a party tonight!"
"Who is we because it most certainly doesn't not involve me!"
At that response Azzi shot Ellie the meanest glare she could conjure. But quickly switched up her tactics when she saw that Ellie's mind had not magically changed due to the mean mugging. Deciding to go the opposite route and start pouting.
"Why? Is it because you don't love me anymore?"
"Stop being dramatic Jazzi, you know I don't like parties point blank! They are loud, crowded, and sweaty! Besides people never know personal space is or how to respect it!"
Entirely fed up with the conversation, Elodie made her way over to her kitchen and started preparing dinner for Wisteria. While Azzi followed after her like a sad puppy, debating on one last desperate attempt to get Elodie to go to the party.
"Lottie plea-"
However Azzi didn't even get to finish her sentence being swiftly cut off by Ellie.
"Don't think that whipping out my childhood nickname will change my mind. Either stop pestering me about it or leave."
Azzi ended up choosing the latter, in Elodie's opinion, she quite dramatically stomped over to the living room and threw herself on Ellie's couch, all while groaning about her failure to persuade Ellie.
Unfazed by the dramatics of Azzi Fudd, Elodie went about her business. Putting on a kettle of water for her daily tea, starting a coffee for Azzi, calling Wisteria over to eat, and folding her recently washed load of laundry she had been putting off. After finishing all her mundane tasks she walked over to Azzi, who had managed to roll off her couch and was now laying on the floor, handed her a cup of coffee, sat down on her couch, and started drinking her berry tea. Ellie sat in silence for a little bit, vastly aware of Azzi's pouting. She gave the party some consideration while drinking her tea, then decided to finally give in, hoping that agreeing the one time would kill any future attempts.
"Fine."
"Wait, what?"
To say Ellie was shocked at the response would be an understatement, after years of pestering she had expected a larger reaction to yes. Not that she was complaining by any means.
"Fine, I will go to the stupid party under a couple of conditions-"
"OH MY GOD! Are you saying yes to go to a party? Is this a historic first for Elodie Thatcher? I just can't believe this, you say YES? I mean it's unprecedented and just totally unexpected! I have to call Nika she owes me 20 bucks, I told HER that this time it would work!"
Azzi quickly cut off her little rant at the look Ellie gave her, but remained wiggling in her spot like the kindergarteners Ellie student-taught during rug time.
"First of all shut it, you're already making me regret this. Second off, what do you mean Nika owes you 20 bucks?? Thirdly, if we go, I can decide we are going to leave at anytime, even if that's 2 minutes in, okay?"
"Okay okay okay!!"
Azzi's response being followed up by throwing herself onto Ellie, embracing the girl for all of two seconds before dragging her to her room to pick out an outfit.
"... So we're not gonna revisit the 20 bucks??"

I did not except anyone to read this so it was a little overwhelming to wake up to people showing interest in this so, thank you so much for caring about my silly little story!!
I was hoping to get this out sooner but I've been incredibly busy with school so thank you for being patient with me. I get out of school on June 5th so I should start uploading constantly then, but I do also have a job and I pick up more shifts in the summer so we'll see.
I hope you enjoy this chapter, please kindly point out any spelling mistakes, and have an amazing day/night!
