Chapter 11 - I'm Thinking Of You All The While

The wedding ceremony has descended into chaos, and people were screaming across the room. Some of the attendees of the party were already dead, and many more were injured or dying. Damon was kneeling on the floor at the front of the altar. Marley grabbed Elena. "Elena?" She was confused. "What the hell?! Bloody witches." Elena remained unconscious. "Stefan? Caroline?"

Damon was worried for Marley more. "How are you?"

"We are alright." Marley replied. "The baby healed me."

"So, you mean..." Damon trailed off.

"He/she is part vampire." Marley told him.

Then Stefan and Caroline, who were knocked backward by Kai's magic, stand to their feet, both of them covered with blood from the broken glass and projectiles hitting them. When they saw Elena's unconscious body, their eyes widen in alarm. "She won't wake up." Damon told them seriously.

Caroline exclaimed. "Oh, my God."

"We need to take her away, so I can look in my book." Marley comment to them. "It has to do with the witches."

"Yeah, Kai's back." Stefan told them.

Then Damon looked at Marley. "You need to get out of here."

"I will take Elena with me." Marley told them. They nodded as then Marley opened a portal and they went through.

After all had happened, Marley found out that Kai placed a spell on Elena and Bonnie, binding their lives together. "Elena will wake after Bonnie is dead." Marley muttered. "Bloody idiot."

And after that, Damon had killed him and everything was over, but a few lives were lost or in the hospital. Alaric had it difficult, he lost his wife to be and his unborn children. Tyler was turned into a werewolf.

But with everything Marley couldn't wake Elena up, whatever spell it was.

It's the next day, and Stefan opened the door to find Caroline and Bonnie on the front step. He ushered them into the parlor, where Alaric, Matt and Tyler were already sitting there waiting for them. Then Damon and Marley walked in and joined them in preparation for their last goodbyes. "Okay, let's do this. You three are up first." Damon looked at Caroline, Marley and Bonnie. They walked together into the next room, where Elena was laying in a coffin and wearing a midnight blue dress. They all looked sad as they looked at their best friend.

Caroline looked at them. "It's easy, Bon, Mar. We just take her hand... close your eyes... and let her into your thoughts."

It worked, they were in Elena's mind. Elena, Marley and Caroline were laughing and sitting on her bed as Bonnie came in with a blanket. "Are we seriously having a sleepover?"

"Come on! Hurry up and get in here. I'm the one who gets to see her again. I mean, you should get the better goodbye." Caroline replied to her.

Elena was overwhelmed. "Oh Care, come here." She hugged her. "Take care of everyone while I'm gone, okay?"

Caroline cried and nodded. "I will, I promise." They pulled away and Caroline was still crying.

Elena looked at all of them. "Promise me something, all of you." She grabbed her journal and handed it to them. "Write it all down, everything that you accomplish in your life, every crush, when you fall in love, when you start a family, every time you fantasize about wanting to kill Damon.." They all laughed hysterically, which quickly turned to tears. "Write it down, so that one day when I wake up, I can read all about my best friends' lives and feel like I was there." They grabbed each others hands.

"I'm so sorry, Elena. Really, I'm so sorry." Bonnie told her, crying.

Elena smiled. "This isn't your fault." Bonnie started to cry harder and Elena squeezed her hand. "Hey. We'll both get everything that we want. We just can't have it at the same time."

"We know." Marley smiled sad.

Elena and Caroline looked at each other and Caroline dragged Marley to leave, which they did.

Alaric was looking down at Elena laying in her coffin when he heard a familiar voice as someone enters the house. It's Jeremy, who has just made it back to Mystic Falls. "Alaric?"

"Jeremy?" Alaric asked.

"I... I tried to be here sooner. I wanted to be here for the wedding." Jeremy replied to him.

"I'm glad you weren't..." Alaric walked over to Jeremy and hugged him. Alaric pulled away and leave Jeremy to say goodbye to Elena. He walked over to Elena's coffin and took her hand.

Tyler walked away from Elena's coffin, and Stefan walked over and took her hand. He closed his eyes as a tear rolls down his cheek. Stefan let go of her hand and walked away.

Later, Damon and Stefan put Elena away and went back to the Salvatore Boarding House. Damon walked to Marley. "Not really the happy ending that I was expecting, but I'm glad that you are okay and our child."

"I know." Marley nodded. "Some of us get their happy endings, but some don't and that's life."

Damon hugged her. "I know that very well."

"Yeah." Marley hugged him back.
