Friendship between [Y/n] and Lando has always been strange. They had these 'waves' of closeness, where sometimes they'd spend a week with each other just to not talk for the next few months. It was understandable, considering both their careers. She was a successful actress, he was a driver in Formula One, their schedules didn't always match.

They liked to party together, a lot. [Y/n] liked when the racing season ended and she could travel around with Lando and the rest of their friend group. Very often it meant a party a few days a week. At one point it started to look like partying was the only thing they did together.

Until one weekend in Monaco.

[Y/n] and her best friend Zoe landed in Nice after a 14 hours flight from LA. Then from there, they had a helicopter flight straight to Monaco, where Lando was supposed to pick them up.

"I thought we would choose a... cheaper way." Zoe admitted, her brows furrowing in concern.

"Are you paying? No, so don't you worry," [Y/n] assured. "Besides, it's not that expensive."

"How much was it?"

"I don't know."

"Tell me, I promise I won't try to pay you back."

"I seriously don't know. Lando paid for everything."

Zoe raised her eyebrows in surprise. "He did? Your boyfriend likes it fancy, hm?"

[Y/n] rolled her eyes playfully when she felt Zoe nudge her, and said, "He's not my boyfriend."

Zoe wasn't a part of their mutual friend group. She was a friend [Y/n] made on a set of one movie. Zoe worked there as a makeup artist.

"I've never met him before, but from your stories he seems a lot closer than a friend."

"Closer? I haven't seen him in months. I see Drew more often."

Drew was [Y/n]'s co-star from a film they've started working on a few months ago. They haven't known each other for long, but they spent a lot of time together because of work.

"I guess it's just the way you talk about Lando," Zoe remarked, "you always light up when you mention him."

[Y/n] shrugged, a faint blush coloring her cheeks. "He's a good friend." She admitted. "We've been through a lot together. I was by his side when he was a reserve driver for McLaren, he was by mine when I got my first big role."

As the helicopter touched down onto the helipad in Monaco, Y/n's heart raced with excitement. She was gonna see Lando after such a long time.

He was standing there, watching as the helicopter landed. [Y/n] waved at him through the window, and he waved back, both with huge smiles on their faces.

As soon as she was able to, [Y/n] ran up to Lando, right into this embrace. Zoe watched this scene, noticing the obvious chemistry between them.

"Haven't seen you in ages." [Y/n] said, her face buried in Lando's chest.

"Ages?" He chuckled. "Just a few weeks, don't be dramatic, schatteke."

[Y/n] never asked what this nickname meant. She didn't speak Dutch, let alone the flemish dialect. She assumed it was a friendly nickname, since Lando usually used it in a slightly sarcastic tone of voice.

Zoe walked up to the two people in front of them, figuring out it'd be nice to get introduced to the man who paid for their journey.

"Spreek je Nederlands?" She approached.

Lando looked at her, very surprised. Not at the fact that she was there, but at the fact that she could've possibly understood the nickname he called [Y/n].
