Harry's POV
Halloween at Hogwarts was a big thing. The castle was decorated to the limit, but beautifully so. There were live bats flying around, huge jack o'lanterns with real fires inside, spiders running around the place and the metal armours would scare any students that passed by.
As I sat at the Gryffindor table, I looked around for any of my friends. Blaise was talking with another Slytherin, although he didn't look very pleased. Neville was talking with a fellow Hufflepuff girl. Hermione and Soleil were nowhere to be seen.
I loaded my plate with various of the many goods that there was, ignoring Ronald's obvious staring. I hadn't even eaten half of my food when the bench caved in a little and someone sat next to me.
"Hey Harry," Soleil's voice said from next to me.
"Hello, where were you?" I asked her, setting my food to a side.
"Someone made Hermione cry, so I've been in the girls' bathroom trying to comfort her. I've come by to grab some food. I'm starving and I can't have her starving to death either."
When she said someone, she sent Ronald a pointed glare. As she did so, the carrot-headed-boy turned his eyes away from us, obviously unsettled by Soleil.
"Oh, did he now?" I asked, my jaw tightening and my fists clenching under the table.
"Yes he did."
Soleil was about to add something, but got interrupted by Professor Quirrell barging into the Great Hall. He ran in as he held his turban in place with one hand, a panicked expression very clear in his face.
"TROLL!" He shouted once he stopped running. "TROLL IN THE DUNGEONS!"
He then lost consciousness and fell face first into the floor.
Shouts of panic took over the Great Hall like a tsunami. I tightened my grip on my wand, knowing that I shouldn't use my sword even if I wanted to. I grabbed on of Soleil's shaking hands in mine, making her look at me.
"Calm down, we'll be safe here."
"I'm not worried about us! What about Hermione?!" She exclaimed over the shouts and cries of the teachers and students.
"Di immortales!" I cursed. "Let's grab Neville and Blaise and go for Hermione."
"No! We need to go now!"
Soleil's POV
Although I was terrified out of my wits, I was determined to reach Hermione. As the prefects started to lead us all back to our common rooms, I took advantage that Harry was holding my hand and dragged him away from all the students.
We ran until we reached the girls' bathroom that Hermione was crying in. As we were about to go in, a foul odour hit us. And then a high pitched scream.
"Wasn't it supposed to be in the dungeons?!" I asked Harry, but he was way ahead of me.
He was already opening the door to the girls' bathroom and entered the place. I ran after him, stopping on my tracks as I saw the troll.
The troll was not in the dungeons. The troll was in the bathroom, the girls' bathroom. The same girls' bathroom that Hermione was in.
I grabbed my wand and entered before I chickened out and ran away. Or before the troll saw me. As Harry made his way towards Hermione and behind the troll, I decided to go for the attack.
I obviously knew that I wouldn't be able to do much, this is a troll that we're talking about. Any spells that we've learned so far won't do much. Specifically with the rubbish DADA teacher that we have. I mean, he's probably terrified of his own shadow and he doesn't teach us that many useful things that we could use outside of school. Or in situations like this one too.
Looked up to the troll, just to see it raise its club above its head and about to bring it down on Harry and Hermione. Harry had managed to reach our horrified friend without the troll seeing him, although that didn't last long enough to get Hermione out.
As the troll started to bring its club down on Harry en Hermione, everything seemed to go in slow motion. I could see Harry's face morphing into one of surprise as he raised his wand up and aimed at the troll's face. I could also see Hermione shielding herself behind Harry, tears still rolling down her cheeks.
At that moment, my mind went into autopilot.
Harry's POV
As the troll was about to smash us with his club, something strange happened.
Soleil's eyes turned a mixture of bright red, orange and yellow, just like the sun. A bright yellow glow surrounded her, making me squint and shield my eyes in order to be able to see her.
She raised her hand made two finger guns, one with each hand. She then aimed at the troll's back with her two finger guns. The tips of her fingers started to shine and produce a light so bright that I would've gone blind if I didn't have the troll between us.
With a flick of her wrists, one ball of fire (or was it light?) was shot from her finger guns. The balls then impacted on the troll's back, making it shriek in agony and pain.
Taking the opportunity, I dragged Hermione away from the troll and towards Soleil. Soleil's glow and shine had disappeared. Her arms were slowly lowering back to her sides as her eyes fluttered open and shut.
I left Hermione by the bathroom's door in case we needed to run away. I charmed the troll's club to hit its owner on the head, making the troll fall unconscious and away from us. Then, I gently grabbed Soleil by the shoulders, making her turn her head to face me.
"I promise I'll help you, and I'm a man of my word."
