VANSH'S POV

"Are you cracking a joke?" I asked her folding my hands and looking straight into her orbs

" Yes I am," she said, one hand on her waist and the other holding a small plate of turmeric paste.

" Hasna tha?" I said taking a step closer to her

( "Was I supposed to laugh?")

she tiptoed to match my height but couldn't and replied

"Tha toh "

( "Yes, you were")

I made a tch sound and said

" Hasi toh nhi aai"

( "It was not funny enough to laugh")

she kept her hands on my chest distanced me from her and asked me to turn around

" What?" I asked her confused

" Do as I say" she said

" But why-" Before I could complete my sentence she   made me turn around

Now my back was facing her and she commanded me to  lift my kurta catching me completely off-guard

" What are you  saying" I screamed but kept my voice low and I swear I could sense her rolling her eyes behind me,

" Why, are you scared? Don't be, I won't take advantage of you "  she said with sarcasm dripping and now it was my turn to roll my eyes which I obviously did.

she sighed when I did not move and said " Trust me, I just want to help"

" But You don't have to" I almost immediately replied

" But I want to," she said raising her voice a little but not enough to get us in trouble

I felt my lips curling up, but I composed myself before they could fully.

My hands held the end of the kurta and I lifted it just enough to reveal a cut and redness around my back.

She asked me to sit on the cot before applying the paste and I did so.

Suddenly a cold sensation hit me followed by stinking pain making me hiss

she stopped for a moment before her fingers again brushed my back. Honestly, I was grateful that she came.

I opened my mouth to thank her but she beat me in it and said " Thank you...and I am sorry"

I frowned my eyebrows

why was she apologizing

It took me a few seconds to realize she was referring to her leaving to save the boy without informing me.

when I stayed quiet for a while, I heard her sighing and keeping the bowl on the ground near the cot's foot

" I know you must have got worried and panicked, I should have told you and not just left you there," she said standing in front of me

" Oh so now you got brains, but there you did what you wanted, have you ever thought if something would have happened to you then what would  have happened to me-"

I started but soon realized I had overshared when I saw her little smirk

" I mean what would I have replied to your family" I cleared my throat

" Sure" was all that she replied and sat beside me

But still, I was not ready to buy it, whatever she did was stupid. She wanted to save the boy, and I appreciate her for that. But risking her own life. nope.
