It's been a month since you've broken up with Itoshi Sae.

You broke up with him for many reasons, but the main one being him not having enough time for you or your relationship, unsurprising.

You won't lie and say that it didn't shatter your own heart, his harsh words that had you crying for days while replaying them in your mind, having a hard time getting used to his absence, since you've always seeked for his presence, at least months before he started distancing himself. And what you hated the most is that it made you also distance yourself from some of your own friends and family.

But that breakup did not change your friendship with his younger brother Itoshi Rin one bit, instead it made you guys closer.

Long story short, a week into your relationship with Sae, you came over to his place since he forgot his AirPods at yours (and also brought some food), surprisingly Rin opened the door instead, and stated that he wasn't home yet, so he invited you in. And you and the younger Itoshi clicked immediately.

After your breakup, Rin did everything in his power to cheer you up and it worked pretty well, getting you out of your shell once again, getting your favourite drinks together every Saturday, having you come to watch him practice alone, spending time at each other's houses (obviously when you spend it at his he always makes sure sae is away for a game overseas, but he will never let you know about it.), and most importantly, getting more comfortable around each other, never hiding anything.

Ever since you broke up with sae, you surprisingly had him call you the day after, trying to apologise and spamming you messages to express his guilt, you left him on seen. And some days after you mentioned it to your best friend Lina who also supported and cheered you up all the way to now, she could do nothing but scoff and call him an asshole, "promise me to never come back to him again! You shouldn't get involved with guys like him." She said as she was drinking her Boba, "alright alright I promise.." you replied, also drinking your Frappuccino (or any drink of your choice) and stuffing macarons in your mouth as you looked down in sadness. "Good! Now block him on all socials! And let's go for a walk after we finish" and that's exactly what you did.

Your amazing two friends managed to make you forget about him, about the pain he caused you and about your times with him.
Really.
But sometimes you can't help but wonder if he also got over you.

"Wait what?" You almost spilled your drink on your clothes hearing that sentence.
"Yes you heard me."

You were with Rin in your usual spot next to the cafe you always meet at, apparently he wanted to meet you earlier than the time you guys meet at, you didn't give it much thought since he would sometimes do that if he had practice right after your hangouts.
"those lukewarm teammates of mine really can't make a good schedule" is what he said if you remember correctly.

Back to the subject, you guys were doing just fine until he asked you to come to his match that's about to be next week, and of course you know there is a match he's playing in. So of course you know he's playing against Sae.

"I really can't! You know i have work.." you look away, and he moves his face following your direction "I made sure you didn't have work on that day." You think more.
"Well don't you think the tickets are a bit expensive? Since it's another really popular team you guys are playing against! I know I'm doing just fine but I can't waste all that money when I can come another ti—" "I paid for it already." Oh. "Vip tickets." Oh.

He sighs and looks at the front "look, if it's because sae is playing against us, just say it, I don't mind, I get it." and he slowly (and playfully) glares at you "it's better than trying to find excuses to not go, don't you think?" Your eyes widen slightly "come on I wouldn't do that" you scratch your head, acting oblivious to his so called assumptions. And he gives you a deadpanned look, turning his full body to you and holding eye contact with you, "I've known you for several months, you can't fool me, y/n." You look back at him, now fully staring at his features. Has his eyes always been that captivating? Almost reminds me of.. No! What am I thinking?! This shit is wrong. You look away, almost flushed.

"Alright you got me, I don't think I'm ready to see him again.. not that I don't see posts of him on my recommended all the time already." You mumble the last part while looking down at your hands, close to Rin's. And he suddenly holds one of them, making you look back at him. "Hey, you know it'll be alright, plus don't you think it's good? I assume you've already gotten over him, next step is trying to be unfazed when meeting him in real life. I know you're strong enough to do that, right?" The words made you stare at him with widened eyes then turn away, registering his words

The younger Itoshi suddenly realised what he was doing and retreated his hand from yours "sorry, I mean, if you don't want to you can still—" "no no! I want to! I was just thinking about it.." he looks at you, eyes almost sparkling at your decision "really? Are you sure?" You look back at him, "yes and I'm convinced I've gotten over him already, it's not only his presence that's sufficient to keep me away from you!" The sides of his lips almost twitch up, thinking about your words "yeah, you're right.. screw that lukewarm face." he gets up, with you doing that too. "Plus.." you turn your head to him ".. I'll make sure you'll be watching me the whole time. Making him lose."

You smile softly at his words, cheeks almost turning pink at them.

"Alright, don't disappoint me Rin."
