Ravenkit would be a loyal WindClan warrior when they grew up.

Fight in a battle? Right away! Catch a squirrel and NOT a rabbit? No questions asked! They'd even become the leader one day, maybe.

They had one, slight problem though: they had a problem that Duskflower, their mother, called, 'late sight.' According to the queen, it meant that Ravenkit couldn't see even with their eyes open, because they had the 'late sight' disease and it would heal later in life, and THEN they would see the world.

On a bright, sunny day, two days after Ravenkit's older sister, Swankit, had opened her eyes, Ravenkit layed down next to Duskflower, squeaking to her. "Mom! Mom, when will I see? Swankit can see!"

Duskflower stammered. "Li- like I said, Ravenkit. Soon."

"When is soon?" Huffed Ravenkit impatiently.

"Hush, Ravenkit. As I said, soon."

Ravenkit groaned but said nothing more. She sniffed around, then bounded forward to were the ground was warmest with sunlight spread out on the ground, coming from the entrance to the nursery. Purring, Ravenkit bounded straight out. She felt her paws pounding the ground underneath her as she ran straight into-

Something slammed into her, and she was thrown back. "Eep!"

A deep rumble came, annoyed. "Watch where your going, ple-" Then the voice softened. "Oh, I'm sorry little one."

Ravenkit blinked open her eyes. "Who are you?"

"I am Whitestar, the leader of your Clan. And you're Ravenkit, hm?"

"Yup!"

Ravenkit puffed up their chest, then Whitestar spoke with worryness in his voice. "Is there something wrong with your eyes, little kit? You seemed not to notice me when you ran into me, and can't you see the star on my forehead? Couldn't you tell I was the leader?" He asked. "Could you be blind?"

"Well," Ravenkit said. "Mama says I'll be able to see soon."

Whitestar winced. Ravenkit tilted her head at him. "May I," Whitestar murmered to the tiny kit. "speak to your mother?"

"Sure! Their in the nursery." Ravenkit pointed their tail at where they thought the nursery was.

Ravenkit felt the paw steps of Whitestar as they padded off. I got to talk to the Clan leader! She thought, beaming. She sniffed the air once. No doubt, Whitestar was inside the nursery, judging by how his scent was farther away now.

She scrambled to her paws and followed Whitestar's scent. Ravenkit guessed they wouldn't want to be disturbed, so she sniffed again. A bitter smell drifted into her scent glands. She followed it, then felt soft and smooth flat stuff touch her paw. Leaf bush thing! Thought Ravenkit, squeezing underneath the leaves. She pirked her sharp-hearing ears and caught some voices.

"Duskflower, you can't do this to a kit." It sounded like Whitestar.

"Whitestar," Duskflower said. "her heart will be broken if I tell her."

"She'll fine out she's blind soon enough," Whitestar hissed.

Blind. Ravenkit had heard that word before, sometimes from the other warriors her first time out of the nursery. They'd say stuff like, "There's the blind kit." When she'd asked them what that meant, they'd say, "Oh, we meant that rabbit we hunted was acting blind! It didn't see when we crept up on it, now go play!"

"But how will she be a warrior?" Asked Duskflower. Ravenkit tilted her head in confusion as Whitestar spoke.

"Maybe she won't, since she can't see. Permantly."
