❛ PORCELAIN DOLL ❜
❝ Nobody is asking you to back off ❞

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

The week began once again faster before Regina wanted it to. The memory of Vicki laying in the middle of the forest covered in blood was still fresh in her mind. She saw it at night before she closed her eyes and it was the first memory she thought of when she opened them. She just couldn't let it go.

Elena visited her in the hospital and said that she was stable. That was all that Regina knew about the situation and it was enough for her.

"Regina." Jenna called out to her niece who was just about to walk out of the front door and head to school. Regina turned around and gave her an expectant look. Jenna twirled around in a dark blue knee-length dress and asked, "Do I look adult? As in, respect parental?"

There was a certain insecurity and need for validation in her eyes when Regina looked at her. More than anything, she wanted at least her nephew and nieces to see her as a trusted adult rather than the fun aunt. As much as that role suited her, she couldn't afford for them to see her like that anymore.

"For our parent-teacher conference?" Regina tilted her head.

"Yeah." She lifted her strawberry blonde curls up and looked at the mirror behind Regina. "Hair up or down?"

"Up." Regina answered immediately. It made her look more mature. "You look great. Don't worry about it. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a moron."

Jenna let her hair fall back over her shoulders and combed her fingers through Regina's straightened hair with a fond smile. "My days would suck without you, kid." Regina smiled at the affection. Her aunt Jenna was the only person who seemed to look back at her with the same light in her eye. Regina always seemed to love people more than they loved her but Jenna was the exception. "Where are you going this early, anyway?"

"I'm taking the bus with Mads." Regina said and picked up her black jacket from the hanger.

Jenna's eyebrows furrowed in both confusion and concern. "Why isn't Archie driving you?"

"He's busy with his new girlfriend." Regina forced a smile on her face. Unknowingly, Jenna could see right through it.

Her eyes narrowed and her voice was mean. "Who's the bitch?"

"Caroline."

Jenna's angry look faltered and was replaced by a shocked one. "Forbes?" Her wide eyes looked for an answer on Regina's face but the grimace on her face made the answer obvious.
