Alexander's pov: I have found my missing half.

I let out a painful cry, before wrestling myself free from the wolves attacking me from the sides.

Then I grabbed hold of the one on my back, with both of my hands and threw him to the ground in front of me. With my good arm I reached down to the side of my hip were the scabbard was attached to my belt and started to unsheathe my sword.

After they helped, stabilize each other, the wolves drew back and suddenly disappeared back into the treeline. The werewolves attacked me in their two-legged forms, it would have been easy for me to remember their faces from years before, they are not members from the royal family.

I didn't recognize any of these wolves, which means that they are relatively young wolves, who can easily be manipulated by an older wolf and was recently recruited and trained. They all wore the same black, unfamiliar uniforms.

Whoever send these attackers were careful enough to cover up their tracks and to make sure the wolves couldn't be traced back to them. Thanks to my friend the fae king, I had time to prepare myself for the attack that was bound to happen.

During the collision between me and the wolves, I noticed there was one distinction that stood out about them, their skills and fighting techniques! The form of attack they used today, were the same battle strategy the werewolf military used, in the rebellion wars against the vampires and fairies, thousands of years ago.

The werewolf army always took advantage of the thick forests and high mountains. The werewolves that followed and attacked me today, must somehow be related to the military or guards of the royal family, but I still have no proof of a new rebellion forming in the werewolf kingdom.

The venom from the werewolf bite on my shoulder, are spreading through my bloodstream. In normal circumstances, venom from a werewolf bite are usually fatal to vampires. Fortunately for me, I am blessed with special antibodies from a royal fairy and vampire bloodline running through my veins. The venom still weakens me to a degree, but it can't kill me.

For now, I just have to endure the weakness and slow burning feeling, coursing through my body from the werewolf venom.

For a while I walked through the forest, until I heard flowing water nearby.

Then I looked around and saw a large patch of shade under a big old tree, rooted in front of me and decided to rest there against the trunk of the tree for a while.

With my wounded shoulder, I leaned against the tree trunk and closed my eyes, while listening to the soothing sounds of the water nearby.

After a few hours passed by, I heard some cracks through the trees behind me and stayed very quiet. The noises came closer until I saw a small shadow in the corner of my partially closed eyes.

The shadow turned into a petite figure when it reached out to touch me. I quickly opened my eyes and grabbed hold of the outstretched arm! Only then I realized it is in fact a woman's arm and raised my eyes to the level of her face.

When my gaze met hers, I was instantly mesmerized by her beautiful, baby blue eyes. When she stepped back, I took in the whole sight of her in front of me. She has fair and delicate features and beautiful long golden locks of hair framing her face. I quickly thought to myself, she is quite a rare beauty, I'm beholding in front of me.

Later on, when she took me into the barn, I felt much more at ease knowing she kept her word and didn't tell her people about my unexpected stay overnight here in the village. After carefully undressing myself, I settled down on the pile of hay and noticed something peculiar about her hair....

As the sunlight retreated behind the mountain tops and the moon started to make its appearance in the now starry sky, Odette's golden locks of hair slowly changed into shimmering, silver locks!

All I could do is observe her astonishing transformation in awe. I wanted to ask her about her hair transformation, but I was uneasy about what her reaction would be, if I had asked her such an intimate question.

Hopefully someday when our paths cross again and we have grown closer to each other, only then may I freely ask her my most desired questions. For now, I will keep them locked away, safely in my thoughts.

Except for my late mother, I have never seen such a beautiful and mesmerizing being in my whole existence. This enigmatic and dazzling creature, has completely bewitched my whole being!

Every time she shyly glanced at me with her flushed cheeks, my heart skipped a beat.

The connection I feel towards her, is very strong and I am certain she felt it too, especially from the way she looked at me and acted around me, when she tended my shoulder wound.

After all these centuries of being alone, I even started to lose hope of ever being whole, but finally I found her. I finally found my immortal mate!

She must still be very young, not to have realized my true identity as a half vampire, underneath my mother's half fae DNA and why she also hasn't sensed the immortal bond, that exists between us.

For now, it is for the best that she has not yet learned the truth about who I really am and about the mating bond we share. I can use it to my advantage to keep her safe for now, until we find each other again and I have uncovered the truth behind the sudden restlessness of the royal family in the werewolf realm.

In the meantime, I decided to leave Odette with my most precious possession, I carried with me since the death of my parents. My mother always wore a snowflake necklace, made with mystical magic, from my father's own frosty bones and cold flowing blood, as a token of his everlasting love for his immortal mate.

Now and following months ahead I will solely focus on preparing the kingdom and my castle for the ball that is upon us. I will also focus on my duties as host for all the guests that will be staying with us for the duration of the festivities.
