Joseph awoke to a dark tatty room with rusty washing machines. "I'm going to guess this is the real world and not some messed up ship" he was still thinking about what the queen said to him. He was chained up to the wall. "Mam what is wrong with me?" he looked up at the ceiling. "I'm looking after my cousin and brother that are the same age as me" "I had to let go of dad the other month after he died in a coma from a car accident" "The origin five won't talk to me anymore" "I can't stop thinking about that moment I lost you" Tears began to form in his eyes. "I just wanted to save you" "I'm not good enough though" "I won't ever be" Joseph held his head with his hands. The door began to creak open. "Joseph you here?" A voice asked. "Yes" Joseph replied with low energy. "You alright there pal you seem off?" Josie asked. "I'm just thinking" He said. "What you thinking about?" She sat next to him. "It doesn't matter" he said. She saw the tear streaming down his cheek. she got an idea of what he could be thinking about. "Are you thinking about our mams?" She replied. "I can't stop thinking about that, it haunts me" He said. "One second we were going to the supermarket" "The next second.." "A bomb hits the car killing the both of them" He said. She wasn't there the day it happened but she remembered hanging out with James at their house. Joseph eventually walked in with a disheartened look. the two asked where there mams were. They were met with silence. He backed up against the door and began crying. The two went to join him. They have have both moved on since but its now apparent to her Joseph hadn't. "Joseph that's in the past now" She Replied. "Sure its upsetting to think about but you didn't know they would lose their lives" She reassured "I get that its just..." Joseph paused. "its just what?" she asked " If I can't beat a blockheaded Mario lookalike how the fuck am I going to save the word it just seems pointless to be a superhero when I can't even save the people I love and care about" he said with more tears. "The world is clearly telling me it does not want me" "Maybe its time I hang up the reins because I am just not cut out for this" He took of his badge and placed it in his pocket. "Joseph what do you mean save the earth?" She questioned "This girl I was friends with grew a hatred for me and somehow became the leader of an alien race" Joseph began to tell Josie his story. "She has however taken interest in my technology and wants to take me prisoner to make her stuff" "If I don't comply" "she will take every life on Earth" he said. Josie looked at him straight in the eyes. "Do you remember what your mam used to say?" She asked "she said a lot of things but what did she used to say?" He replied. "Everything happens for a reason" she said with a heart warming smile. He began to remember when his mam used to say that it would bring him more comfort in things when things got messy. "come on lets get out of here and have a movie night me, you and Star" "that sounds nice" He looked at her with a smile. "This world does need you trust me on that you just don't get that yet" She said as she undid the chains forged around his arms and helped him up. He took his badge out of his pocket and looked at it. He put it back on his wrist. A green light bloomed from the floor. "Was that there before?" Josie looked at Joseph. "No" He replied. It began to fly and draw a shape. Huge gusts began to flood the room. "I don't think this is going to be good" Josie said. "I think that's obvious" Joseph replied. The light was coming from a butterfly. The shape it drew looked like an hour glass. It began to crack and spread through the floor boards. It burned brighter and brighter. The wind grew stronger and stronger. It began to open and a figure appeared inside. "Hello younger me"...
