...

Is it recording?

...

Very well, then.

I've encountered a new subject. Someone just as useful as William could be; But he has his own quirk.

The boy—Mateo's soul clinged by itself. There was no stimuli present, and no apparent reason for it to happen.

His life is miserable. There was nothing for him on this realm. My question is, what intentions had his soul?

... My readings, however, show that there is - indeed - something intervening... Will his soul be willing to come back if he dies again? And if that is so, how many more times is it willing to do it?...

He's an interesting subject. He may not be that different from William. Tests will start tomorrow.

And I may have the chance to sow the "Joy" his creation will make.

Just wait and see.

Months had passed since Mateo began to live with the Miller's.

Often, Henry and Dave would go out early and not come back until late. Dave mentioned a few times where they went; some type of pizzeria. Fredbear's Family Diner as they called it. It seemed to have a great popularity according to the aubergine man. Great business.

In the meantime, Mateo usually stayed in the bedroom, reading books Henry had given to him, or daydreaming through the nowhere. Doing mostly anything that was given to him and nothing at the same time. There wasn't much to do on the property, especially without Dave.

As the weeks passed, Mateo had gotten to know his purple companion better. He was a strange guy; He had already established that from the beginning, but he was... Strangely friendly. He had helped Mateo settle better in the house to feel accompanied. Certainly, he achieved his goal. They had become close, even though they didn't know each other very well. Sometimes Dave would arrive early from the pizzeria, going enthusiastically and with a sparkle in his eyes towards Mateo with papers in his hands - drawings of him, which (according to Dave) would have been drawn by the children who attended the pizzeria. "They love me!" Dave exclaimed, not in any kind of egocentric tone, but more of a genuinely happy tone. Or something like that, sometimes it was difficult for Mateo to read Dave's expressions.

Other times, it was Henry who came home early to make some tests with Mateo.

Henry never talked about this. He never explained anything.

Apparently, it was normal in that house. There were frequent times when Henry took Mateo, or Dave - sometimes both - to that murky room where Mateo once woke up for the first time. He couldn't help but feel uncomfortable by Henry's intentions. It was more than clear that he had some kind of goal regarding immortality, but Henry never said anything. He never talked about what he would do. He gave no clues, no explanations, just a cold look that was more than enough to say, "You don't need to know anything. Just be happy to be useful to me."

As for Dave, that seemed to be more than enough for him to accept everything the magenta man did. Mateo noticed how he blindly followed his mentor's instructions, which undeniably worried him, but he didn't think much about it.
