"yeah yeah, i know. i'm not a child, i can handle myself."
dragging her luggages along the tiled floor of the airport and a guitar case slung over her shoulder, a (h/c) haired girl sighed through her nostrils, holding her phone away from her ears as the person on the other line continued to ramble on and on.
she grumbles, rolling her eyes.
"i got it, i know what to do dad. no need to yap about it.."
"i know kid... i just can't help but worry! i mean, you're on another country for pete's sake! you don't know anyone there, and worst of all that hag—"
"mrs. aera."
the other line became silent for a few seconds, before a sigh was heard.
"...that aera woman better take care of you, or else."
"i can handle myself just fine, old man. no need to get worked up over nothing."
[name] brushed off, knowing that she'd probably regret her words later on.
"...if something bad happens, i'll let you know right away."
"
, kiddo..."just as she was about to end the call, she heard her father speak once again.
"i really wish things ended up differently..."
"...maybe we can try again next time. who knows, we might even get custody over hyun and mei."
"i'll work hard. for you guys."
"yeah, bye."
"call me again when you can, anak."
[name] ended the call as her she felt a knot tighten in her chest, a stinging sensation in her eyes making her tear up.
this isn't a place to cry though, so she immediately wiped her tears away and continued forward.
'this is it... i'm here now. there's no turning back.'
stepping out of the airport, [name] was greeted by the cold breeze of winter air, the loud chatter of people fading in the background as the clouds covered the sky, a sign that it'll snow soon.
'south korea... i guess this is gonna be my new home. i just have to last for three years.'
calling a taxi over, she shoved her luggage in and closed the door with a heavy sigh, telling the driver her destination.
with her head leaning against the window of the car and eyes watching the scenery outside, [name] couldn't help but think of her family back at the philippines.
well, they aren't really her family. just her coworkers in her part time job that decided to take care of her.
ever since she was a kid, she never knew who her real parents was. that's why manny, her boss in her previous job, had taken it upon himself to raise her.
