Harleen Quinzel's POV:

I caught a glimpse of the faded black and white  "Welcome to Gotham city" sign, through the window.
It felt so weird to be here, being a Brooklyn girl. The city was dark and lifeless almost like a ghost town in a horror movie. The rain made it even more dramatic.

Gotham city, a sprawling metropolis cloaked in perpetual darkness, where towering skyscrapers cast ominous shadows over labyrinthine streets. Its skyline is a jagged silhouette against the moonlit sky, punctuated by neon signs and flickering streetlights. Corruption and violence festers like a malignant tumor within its core, infecting every institution and alleyway with a palpable sense of decay. In this urban jungle, chaos and crime reign supreme, and the line between hero and villain blurs into a murky haze of moral ambiguity. It's a city on the edge of insanity, the perfect breeding ground for the enigmatic and malevolent force known only as the Joker and his ever so famous enemy, Batman. This is the city everyone knows as Gotham City.

In the heart of Gotham city, nestled between towering skyscrapers and the perpetual haze of city lights, was my apartment. The misty windows, only exposed glimpses of the chaotic city down below. The interior was a mix of antique furniture and modern gadgets, reflecting the clash of old-world elegance and futuristic technology that defines Gotham itself. The walls were an old grey colour with vintage posters on the wall. Despite its flaws, there was an undeniable charm to this apartment, just like Gotham.

"Thank you honey" i said as Jake brought the bags into our new apartment. Jake was my boyfriend. We had been dating for 6 months. We met at college back in Brooklyn where I majored in psychology and he majored in journalism. When we graduated, we both decided to move into our apartment here in Gotham due to our jobs. It all happened so fast but we knew we would make a wonderful couple.
"I think I'm gonna call it a night" I yawned, tired from the long trip.
"Okay, I got some work to finish up and then I'll join you" Jake replied and stuck his head back into his laptop.
Jake was always working but so was I. I loved Jake but sometimes I wish he cared the way I did.
