A/N
So a friend dragged me into the KnY fandom about a year and a half ago, and I somehow didn't think to read any fanfics once I was caught up on the anime... Until like a few months ago. Then I was devastated that there seemed to be so little (at least completed), and then I got sad because Tanjiro never got to show Kyojuro the Hinokami Kagura dance... And so I word vomited into the Notes app on my phone and this is the result. Somehow some of the best writing I've ever done in my life, so I really hope you enjoy it!!
Also, the pairing crept up behind me and took me hostage while I was typing it out. I had no say in it whatsoever...
It was the night of New Year's Eve: a typically joyous and cacophonous night for the city-dweller, and a mild and homely celebratory night for the ones who lived further out in the country.
At the Butterfly Estate, it tended to be the latter — albeit more due to injured Demon Slayers than because the structure was far from a decently sized village. Kocho Shinobu required a restful atmosphere at all times of the night to encourage her patients to heal, which is not very conducive to celebrating the turn of the New Year.
Well, normally she required this. But considering her latest and only current patients were none other than a certain Rengoku, Kamado, Hashibira, and Agatsuma, and also the fact that the boys were to be discharged the next day... She found herself being easily persuaded by her butterfly girls to allow them all to celebrate this year, the little ones squealing at the chance to celebrate the holiday with their Tanjiro-san.
It was a choice that Shinobu would soon come to regret, seeing as the apparent Sun Breather had for years celebrated the New Year in ways detrimental to his health.

"Hurry up ya slowpokes, we're gonna miss Gonpachiro's Hinonami Kragira!!"
Inosuke charged down the trail that lead to the clearing where Tanjiro said he would be performing his family's traditional annual dance to the god of fire.
"Inosuke, you know that's not his name! And we're late because you decided you needed FOUR SERVINGS OF DINNER!! Who eats that much and can still run?!" Zenitsu lamented.
"We will not miss the Hinokami Kagura, young Hashibira! Tanjiro said the dance will last through the night!" Rengoku then turned to Zenitsu.
"I eat much more than that and am still able to fight demons! It would be devastating indeed to not be able to enjoy such good cooking without it inhibiting your battle prowess!" Kyojuro added helpfully.
"You don't count, you're a freak of nature! An anomaly! You get a hole punched through the stomach and still live to see another day; of course you can eat a boatload of food and still be able to fight!!" Zenitsu screeched.
Kyojuro laughed heartily at his perceived compliment, and then quietened as they neared the clearing, where the once loud Inosuke was standing at the entrance of, still and silent.
"What's with the clapping?" Zenitsu mumbled.
Kyojuro found he couldn't answer, not as Tanjiro came into his line of view.
He hadn't realized the amount of preparation the Tsuguko would have had to undergo for this dance. He knew that Tanjiro was supposed to be wearing traditional clothing, but to his knowledge the Kamados had never gone back to their previous residence to get any they may have had, so he assumed he would simply wear his Demon Slaying uniform.
He couldn't have been more wrong.
Since the winter at the Butterfly Estate was much milder than the winter on his mountain, and considering he tended to overheat using his Breaths, Tanjiro had decided on going shirtless and barefoot for the dance. He held a wooden bokken instead of his usual katana, and he had what looked like a homemade cloth mask tied around his head with red ribbons that he had probably gotten from the younger Butterfly Trio.

FanfictionTanjiro seemed to come slightly out of his concentration of the dance, enough so that with the next turn he took that made his mask swish to the side, he made direct eye contact with Kyojuro and smiled. Kyojuro momentarily wondered why he was so war...
