MINI BACKSTORY:
At the age of five, Kai and 3-year-old Nya tried to look for another home in the Ninjago slums after recently being kicked out of their previous home within the slums. After failing to find a new family, they found a small safe spot in a large tunnel just outside of the slums where they decided to settle in. They found a small slot within the tunnel, slightly hidden from the canal passing through. They got used to this life within a few days. One night just a week later, they woke up to a sound of a crying baby, fast footsteps and heavy breathing.
They sat up and looked out of the slot and saw a woman wearing a beige long sleeve shirt and khaki green cargo trousers. She had long, dark brown hair up in a plait and wore glasses and was holding something. It was wrapped in a blanket. The woman stood in place, looking around frantically. She finally spotted Kai and Nya in the slot. They panicked and shuffled back as she ran over.
"Shh, it's okay... I won't hurt you." She handed the blanket to Kai and Nya and the crying of the baby calmed down as he gazed at them with his large emerald orbs. "Please take care of him... H-his name is Lloyd Garmadon. Promise me that you'll take care of him. He's only one year old..."
"Lloyd... Garmadon?" Kai repeated.
The woman nodded and stepped back.
"We pwomise," Nya whispered.
The woman looked back and started running again. A tall man was running after her. The siblings hoped to see the woman again. They hoped that taking care of little Lloyd was only temporary and that she'll be back.
She never returned for her child.
After a week or so, they realised that the slot didn't give them enough protection from the dropping temperatures.
"We need to think of something..." Kai stepped further into the slot and noticed a metal door on the right hand side. He tried opening it but it was no use. A lock was stopping the door from opening. Kai cautiously stepped out of the slot.
"Where are you going?" Nya asked. Kai searched the tunnel for something and picked up a heavy rock.
"Tuck Lloyd's ears." Nya did as told before Kai started destroying the lock with the rock. After many attempts, the lock finally broke off and the door opened, revealing a small room. "Welcome to our new home..."
