I open my eyes and I'm standing in the pouring rain on the beach under a blue light. I stare at a light in the distance. It looks like it's coming closer to me. "Who are you?" A dark voice asks. "So strong yet so weak. So brave yet so scared. So sad. Run away, little girl, before you get hurt." The figure begins to disappear into the fog.

I gasp awake and look out the window of the car. I see the cabin. I look at mom and see her eyes all puffy. Was she crying? "We're here." I throw my hoodie over my head. "On three." He states. "Ready?" I unbuckle my seatbelt and grab hold of the door handle. "One, two-" Me and Percy open the doors of the car and shut them before we race towards the cabin.

I put my bag down on a desk and sit down on a chair in our room. I take a breathe as I look at my hands. I think back to that blue light that came from my hands. I open and close my palms. What was it? A knock on the door pulls me out of my thought. I look up and see Percy. "Okay?" He asks. I shrug. "Yeah." I stand up and head into the kitchen with him. We see mom at the sink washing her hands. We sneak up behind her and tap both her shoulder on either side. She snaps her head between the two of us. "I found the good marshmallows. Ones that don't burn so easy." "I don't think it was the marshmallows fault we weren't paying attention." Percy states. She looks at us. "Mom?" She leans against the counter to listen. "We need to talk." I state.

We all sit in the couch, "We're issued feeling weird. We're used to the world feeling weird to us." "Kind of like puzzle with half the wrong pieces or missing pieces." I add. "We try to pay attention. We really try, but...then we're daydreaming. We can't help it." "Except it doesn't feel like daydreaming, it felt like..." I press my lips together as look for the word. "Real." Me and Percy say in unison.

"You saw something. Something that felt real to you, but only you two could see?" We nod. "What did she say?" I scrunch my face and we glance at her. "She?" "How did you know it was a she?" We asks skeptically. She looks at us and takes a breath. She sucks on her teeth as she throws her head, shaking it. "Do you know wu we come to this cabin every year?" "Because it's next to land sh- septic tanks, so it's cheap." I answer. "Mom, how did you know about that thing we saw?" Percy asks. "We come to this place every year because this is the place I met your father." My eye brows furrow. "What does he have to do with this?" I ask.

She touches cheeks and looks at us. "A long time ago, I met a man, here on the beach. He was wise and brave and kind and...noble. From the moment I first saw him, I knew that- that I had never met a man like him before. And then I realized he was unlike any man I had ever met before...because h- he wasn't a man at all. He was a god." My mouth parts in disbelief and confusion. You feel in love with God? Like... Like- like Jesus?" Percy asks. "Not God. A god." She clarifies.

"He was the force that I was hoping for. He talked to...this man who was able to heal you but not without changing you. This man had the ability to give you...magic." I blink trying to wrap my head around this. "Are you trying to tell me I'm a magical messiah?" "No. Yes. Technically." I open my mouth even more lost than I originally was. "Percy, Hope, the stories.. that I have told you about Greek gods and heroes and monsters, they are real." "Mom-" she cuts me and Percy off.

"In those stories, I have told you about how gods and mortals would sometimes have children together-" "Please stop." I say closing my eyes getting more frustrated. "Children called demigods-" "STOP!" I shout my voice powers through and the lights go out. My eyes wide in shock. "What the hell...?" I say looking at the broken glass. "And sometimes they are known as half-bloods." A small tear slides down my cheek. "That's- that's what that monster called us." "Mommy, what's happening?" I whisper.

"You are a half-blood and you are a tri-blood. And they are not safe in the world. Once they reach a certain age and they begin...to understand what they are, terrible forces are drawn to them, driven to harm them before they can become strong enough to fight back. That is what you have been feeling. It has always been a part of who you both are, it was always coming, I just-" I shake my head. "Why are you telling me this?" "Kids, I know that this is hard to understand, but you have to believe me that this is real." We both stand up abruptly.

"Stop, this is crazy. Okay?" "We are not gods." We state. "There is something seriously wrong with our brains." Percy says firmly. "We understand that we're weird, believe me, we get it, I'm really scared something is really broken now." "Oh, baby, no-" she tries to take our hands but we pull away. "And- and now you're telling stories, like it's gonna make it okay?" I say upset. "Well, we're not babies! We know there's no such thing as monsters, we know there's no such thing as gods, we know for certain that there is no such things as demigods or tribloods." Before she can speak there's a knock at the door.

"Who's there?" she asks. We look at the door. "Mrs. Jackson? It's Grover." "Grover?" We say confused. "This is a little time sensitive. Could someone maybe open the door?" He asks. "What is he doing here?" "I don't wanna see him." We say annoyed. "Wait, mom-" she opens the door and sticks her head out. "I asked to have the night, you said we could all leave in the morning." She states. Why is she talking to him like she knows? "Sorry, I'm early, but I didn't have any choice. Things have changed, this is all developing a lot faster than we anticipated." "Early?" I say confused.

She opens the door and lets Grover in. "You should have asked before you-" "what is you're gonna say." We cut him off. "I don't wanna-" I look down and my sentence cuts off short. "Hear it...Grover?" Percy says looking at his legs as well. "Percy. Hope." He greets before turning back to my mom.

"Okay, so something's coming-" "Grover." I call out. "And I know that sounds really bad-"Grover?" Percy calls out. "But the important thing is not to panic." "I'm not panicking." Mom says nonchalantly. "Grover!" Percy says louder. "Great! I'm also definitely not panicking." He say breathing heavily. "I feel very good about how we're doing so far-" "Grover!" We shout. "What?" "Why is there half a goat in your pants?" I ask him.

"Oh, it's-" he looks down at the goat legs. "Oh! Oh, boy, she didn't tell you about...you didn't tell them about me?" He asks mom. "You're early." "So the important thing is not to panic." He tells us. "We'll continue this in the car let's go." Mom goes into the room and grabs our stuff.
