The scripture says that Aamon and Tahir were born from Chaos. They were siblings.
And lovers.
Their children loved the world and explored every inch of it, creating new creatures wherever they went. One creature in particular gained intelligence quickly. Humans learned fast and populated even quicker. But even as their numbers increased, their ability to empathize didn't. As the Gods and Goddesses grew less involved with the world, growing bored, Tahir and Aamon watched as their creations began to destroy their first child: the earth.
Aamon watched in fear as the humans grew more and more powerful. He was afraid for Tahir and urged her to stay away, but she had a deep love for the world and couldn't stay away for long. One day, she got hurt and a human, the creature her brother and husband had warned her about, found her. Tahir was afraid and surprised when, instead of hurting her, the human male nursed her back to health.
The man showed her that humans were capable of more than savagery and greed. Tahir often snuck away from her husband to meet the human in secret, but despite their efforts, Aamon learned of their affair. He was enraged and confronted Tahir, promising to burn the world in retaliation. Tahir begged him for mercy and pleaded with him to spare the human she loved from his wrath. But hearing how she loved this human only infuriated him further.
Tahir promised to leave the man alone if only to spare the world from his Dark Fire, but he demanded that Tahir sacrifice the human male instead. If she did, he would leave the rest of the human race alone. All would go back to the way it was. Tahir refused.
Aamon declared war on the human world as a result. Tahir claimed that declaring war on them meant declaring war with her. She refused. Their children were forced to pick sides and so began the First War. It took its toll fast, the once beautiful, green lands becoming barren and black. It was so damaged that the land cracked straight in half, creating the two continents known today.
Although the war stretched on for years, no winner was ever declared. Aamon appeared angry but in truth, he was heartbroken. He truly loved Tahir. His pride has been hurt, yes, and one man's pride was their identity - but Aamon found his identity in Tahir, his wife. He didn't understand what she saw in the human male. Aamon was powerful, he could give her anything her heart desired without ever having to ask because he knew her. What could the human offer that he couldn't?
So Aamon vowed that the human males's children would never set foot in his kingdom. Aamon retreated from the world, and the fighting ceased. The war was over and all those who chose to be his disciples followed him into the shadows. He used his magic to hide his people, shrouding the city in shadows and black magic, but soon, it began to infect his people. Their eyes turned purple, horns sprouted from their heads, and they grew tails that had spikes or poisonous barbs, and fangs sharp enough to tear through flesh. They became something other than human, something darker. After the city turned dark, the magic created a barrier that no one could cross, and Aamon disappeared from the history books. Over the years, his line kept their magic strong and their blood pure.
After the Nightshade Kingdom put up their magical wall, humans grew to forget about the creatures living there. They became things of stories and old wives tales that warned children to behave. But the Kingdom's mystery made it a curious topic. Many tried to cross the barrier but none of them came back to share the stories of what laid beyond them. Then, almost a full 1000 years after the Kingdom removed itself from the rest of the world, the royal family declared that they would become involved in the world's politics. Still, their borders remained closed. No matter how many years passed, the rift between Aamon and Tahir remained deep and bloody.
Tahir, named the Divine Mother by her people, had led her half of the world out of a depression caused by the bloody war, and into the era of prosperity. Aamon's dark magic kept her people out of his kingdom but she had no desire to hunt down her brother. He stewed in his hatred but Tahir found love and happiness for herself after the war, and so, for her people.
Her people named the kingdom after the star she wore, the Celestial Star. She and her human lover ruled Celestia for almost a hundred years. Within those years, she established the Church and taught her disciples how to cherish the world she and Aamon created. While Aamon never spoke of Tahir again, Tahir spoke kindly of her brother. But he was no longer her husband.
When her lover died, she set her crown to the side. She chose a Priestess to continue her workings in the Church and instructed her to pick a handful of Acolytes, who vowed to uphold Tahir's image and values. Tahir passed the throne onto the son she carried for her human love. As the generations were born, her magic grew distant and diluted. But magic never disappears, it is always there.
Even a spark can become an inferno.
