Ever since that Christmas, things have been a bit different between Max and Millie. They were still best friends, but there was an undeniable shift in their relationship. They spent more time together, laughing and joking like they always did, but now there was an added layer of affection between them. They held hands more often, stole glances at each other when they thought the other wasn't looking, and shared secret smiles that only they understood. As they navigated this new dynamic, they found themselves falling deeper and deeper in love with each other. It was a natural progression, one that neither of them could have predicted, but one that felt inevitable.

Their friendship had always been strong, but their love for each other grew stronger with each passing day. They spent a lot of time together, and Millie always looked forward to her visits. They would talk and laugh, and just enjoy being together. It was clear that they had a special bond, and she could feel it growing stronger every day. Millie wasn't really sure what they were anymore. They hadn't talked about their two shared kisses they had on that Christmas morning, and she didn't know what it meant. Were they boyfriend and girlfriend now or not? She didn't want to push him to make a decision. She wanted him to figure out his feelings first and when he was ready, she would be there waiting.

She knew it was silly, but a part of her hoped that one day he would call her his girlfriend. It was something that she had dreamed of for a while, and now that the possibility was within reach, she couldn't help but hope for it. She was falling more and more in love with him every day, and she could only imagine how much deeper those feelings would grow if they were officially together.

It was late one night when Max suddenly came over next door. Millie couldn't sleep so she sat by her window and watched the stars twinkle in the sky, lost in her thoughts. She was surprised when she heard a soft tap on her window and turned to see Max standing outside, a sheepish smile on his face.

"Hey, Mills," He whispers, his breath visible in the chilly night air. "Can I come in?"

Millie's heart flutters at the sight of him, and she quickly opens the window to let him in. "Of course, Max," She replies, stepping aside to let him climb through. "Come in. Plus it's cold out there, and you'll catch a cold."

Max chuckles softly as he steps into Millie's room, brushing off the cold night air. He looks around, taking in the familiar space that has always felt like a second home to him. Millie closes the window behind him and turns to face him, her heart pounding in her chest. He glances around, taking in the familiar surroundings with a sense of comfort before his gaze lands on her, his face softening and an apologetic look is shown in his eyes. "Sorry for showing up unannounced," He said, rubbing the back of his neck nervously. "I just...I couldn't sleep, and I couldn't stop thinking about you."

"Really?" Millie's heart skips a beat at his admission. She could feel her cheeks heating up and did her best to hide her embarrassment. "I mean...You could've just texted me, called or facetimed, you know. It's a little cold to be out here at this time of night." She pointed out, giving him a playful smile.
