"Yunaaaaa!" Jihyo's voice cut through the quiet of the early morning, sharp and urgent.
"Wake up, or you'll be late for work!" Yuna groggily opened her eyes, her body heavy with exhaustion.
"What time is it?" she mumbled, struggling to stay awake. "It's already 7 AM," Jihyo replied, her voice a blend of amusement and exasperation. "You've got half an hour to get ready and get to the hospital." Yuna's eyes widened in alarm.
"Holy crap!" She shot out of bed, a rush of adrenaline hitting her. Fumbling with her clothes, she grabbed a pancake Jihyo had made and stuffed it into her mouth as she rushed out the door.
The bond between Yuna and Jihyo had formed months ago, a friendship born out of necessity during Yuna's demanding college exams and part-time jobs. Jihyo, a senior, had taken Yuna under her wing, guiding her through the intricacies of life and even helping her land a remote job. Their bond grew, and soon, they had become inseparable, choosing to share an apartment to save money. In no time, Jihyo had become Yuna's protector—an older sister figure, something Yuna hadn't realized she'd been missing.
"See you later, Jihyo. Love you!" Yuna called, her voice muffled by the door as she sprinted down the hallway to catch the bus. After her college exams had finished, Yuna had set her sights on a prestigious internship at one of Busan's top hospitals. After multiple rejections, she had finally been accepted, and now, weeks into the internship, she was learning firsthand the complexities of life and death. It was a whirlwind of emotions and challenges, one that had already taught her that the value of life is often realized in the blink of an eye—when it's on the line.

"Good morning, Dr. Yuna" a nurse greeted her as she entered the hospital, her voice bright with professionalism.
"Dr. Henry asked me to guide you to his office." Yuna nodded, following the nurse down the sterile, brightly lit hallway, her mind still reeling from the chaos of her rushed morning. The nurse paused in front of Dr. Henry's office, knocking softly before announcing "Doctor, Dr. Yuna is here."
"Let her in" came the cool, authoritative voice from inside. Yuna entered, offering a polite smile. "Good morning, Doctor."
Dr. Henry was in his early thirties, though his calm, mature demeanor made him appear older. Tall with sharp features, his presence commanded respect. He glanced up from a patient file and gestured to the seat in front of him.
"Dr. Yuna" he said, his tone shifting to business. "I have a case for you. It's urgent, so I'll be brief. Yesterday, we admitted a patient named Seokmin. He arrived in a state of extreme agitation—grunting in pain and trying to bite anyone who came near. We ran multiple tests, but his vitals came back normal. The only thing that stands out is his behavior. It's... abnormal."
