Veronica Meyers hated her hometown with all the fibers of her body. There was always something unexplainable that didn't sit right.

It was like.....a fog. A fog that sat heavily over town, no matter how bright, clear, and sunny it was. There were kids who disappeared far too frequently. Too frequently to be described as normal. And any kid who went missing, everyone mysteriously forgot about them when the next kid went.

No one remembered them. Everyone gets fixated on them for a few days, maybe a few weeks at most, and then forget about them, ditching for the next missing child. This happened with Georgie Denbrough, Betty Ripsom, and all the kids who came before them.

The sewers were cold, dark, and wet. The only other sounds of the quiet in the tunnel were the sounds of a girl splashing along the side of the sewer tunnel, her soaked shoes hitting the dirty water.

She was wearing a green dress and a gray rain slicker. Her long brown hair that could have once been pretty, was matted to her head and face, so wet and slimy that it looked less like hair and more like a dirty mop with two braids in it. Her nose was red and her skin was cold, clammy, and pale. Her eyes were bloodshot and looked tired, yet crazed. She had several scratches and wounds on her knees, legs, and arms, yet she continued limping through the dirty water.

"Nica..? Is....is that you..?" A small voice called out from behind the girl. She paused and turned around. "Georgie...?" She whispered hoarsely. The voice came from a small boy in a bright yellow rain slicker, blueish black jeans, and large dark green galoshes. "Nica..!" The boy, Georgie, started to slosh towards her, but she backed away. "Nica..? Why are you moving away from me?" Georgie stopped, his voice breaking with tears rolling down his cheeks. The girl steeled her face, gritting her teeth. "You're not him. Stop pretending to be him." She hissed her voice like venom. 'Georgie' hunched over backwards, his back making an unnatural cracking sound. His head faced the girl and it had a stretched smile. "You'll Float Too. You'll Float Too. YOU'LL FLOAT TOO." He chanted that over and over again, making the girl back away slightly. The fake Georgie started spinning and then stopped, now being a giant clown with a large, greasy forehead.

"Not you again..." She groaned and started trudging down the tunnel again. "Aw.....Nica doesn't want to be friends with the clown.." The clown said sadly, following after the girl. "No one calls me that, Bitch. Say it again, and I'll do worse things to you than leave a scar on your eye.." She snapped angrily. "If you're going to call me anything, it'll be Veronica." It pouted. "Why don't you like Pennywise? We could be friends.." Her bloodshot eye twitched. "Because your a creepy fucker who eats kids." Veronica scoffed, pulling a small pocket knife out of her raincoat, holding it in front of her. The Pennywise's pout turned into a sinister smile. "I will feast on you. You know it. You will be afraid." It then stalks away, slipping into the shadows and disappearing. Veronica limped forward through the sewer. She found a light patch that was sort of dry and she sat down there curling into a ball and falling asleep. She planned to find the end of the tunnel the next day, since she was clearly near an exit since it was getting lighter and dryer.

Veronica had one thought before she fully drifted off:

'This Clown Will Never Get To My Friends.'

Bill Denbrough. A tall, lanky boy with straight, light brown hair and a stutter. He was extremely anxious to start looking for his little brother and his close friend. He was excited for the summer, but it was different than how every other thirteen year old boy was. He wanted to find them, find his little brother, and his friend. He was determined to find them no matter what, but his friends weren't as enthusiastic. They wanted to find their missing friend, they really did, but they wanted to do more with their summer than splashing around in dirty water and looking into holes. They were kids, and in their town, anyone who went missing didn't come back. Bill was desperate to find them, wanting nothing more than to hear Veronica laugh at something stupid that Richie said, hear Georgie call his name again, god, he just hear their voices again. He wanted to go back to when things were normal.

Bill dumped the contents of his school bag into a trash can outside of their school along with the rest of his friends. "Best. Feeling. Ever!" Stan Uris grinned as he finished emptying his bag contents. He had light, curly brown hair and was wearing a kippah. A boy with large, thick glasses, dark curly hair, and a floral shirt looked at him. "Yeah? Try tickling your pickle for the first time." The others rolled their eyes. "What do you guys want to do tomorrow?" A short boy in a pink polo shirt, multiple fanny packs, and straight brown hair asked, tugging his backpack on. His name was Eddie. "I start my training." Richie pushed his glasses back up on his face.

Eddie made a confused face. "Training?" He asked. "Street Fighter." Richie replied, determination in his voice. "Is that how you want to spend your summer? Inside of an arcade?" Eddie asked, surprised. "Beats spending it inside of your mother." Richie said, holding his hand up for a high-five with Stan. Stan grabbed his wrist and put Richies arm back down. Richie's smile faded. 'Ronnie would have laughed..' He thought to himself.

Beverly Marsh sat on a toilet seat, the stall door closed. She slowly removed her soaked backpack from covering her head and put it on the ground as she listened to Gretta Keene leave, her and her minions cackling as the door slammed shut. Beverly began to tear up, curling into a ball and quietly sobbing. She missed her best friend. She missed her so much. If Veronica was here, she would have stopped Gretta from dumping a back of watery garbage onto her. A ghost of a smile appeared on Beverly's tearful face as she thought of Veronica. She would have probably stopped her with a fist fight, like she always did. The smile slowly disappeared and she started to cry harder at the thought of her friend. "Today's just a shitty day. But tomorrow will be better, Bev!" She would always say. But without her, Beverly couldn't fathom that any day would be good ever again.

*Chapter One is done! I am so excited to start this book! I do want to clarify a few things before we really get into it. 1: Veronica is friends with Beverly already, so that's why she's in here. 2. Veronica went missing a few days before the end of school, rather than a few months. She went missing about a week and a half before the end of school.*

*Anyway, that's it. Please vote or comment if you enjoyed this, and I will see you all next time!*
