Soft sand beneath cradle my feet and create a grounding feeling. Sunset's eve, it's dim, I can see all barely but the night's black has yet to arrive. A breeze strikes me, I shiver and sit back down.

Heard a cuss behind me, I spear your look: you're almost tripping for the strong blows of wind, holding your hair from your eyes in one hand and a silver tray in the other as you tiptoe down the stone steps to the beach. You wear a dark blue shirt.

You find me across the rocks and set up a sarong, "Did you wait long?" I shake my head no, you pull the tray from behind your back as though a magician to show me fresh cut fruit.

"It was quite the labour to get past the front lobby." You sigh out and plop down beside me. I hum, eyes fixed on the waves. I then realize your words.

"You...!" I charge to scold you. You raise a finger and your eyebrows back at me.

"I didn't steal it. We payed for it, it's ours." I shoot unsettled eyes at you, you glare. I don't waver.

"Take some fruit, will you?" You almost snap.

You look at my lap and lower yourself beside me, supported by your elbows. "Finished the book?"

"She died in the end."

"Really?" you sit back up, shocked. "Wow. Books really are boring."

"You asked me to tell you along the whole story," I remind and hold back a laugh, remembering how hooked in the storyline you'd gotten for the past days.

"That was too obvious. Everyone knew she'd just die anyway. I guess that's just how books work."

"You're kind of right." I lay on my side and smile, glancing over your lean figure. Your hair's messy against the wind and you've grown quiet, watching the waves.

We could probably see the last bit of sun still if not for the cloudy weather. The beach is empty, only a few more couples swimmimg faraway.

I too invite you for a swim, you take my hand. The chilly water feels warm with the heat of your skin when you hold me, and glide me around the sea. It's dark now, everyone's gone home.

We swim, as lovers in a movie, messy and sweet, until the stars join us and your lips are on mine and only the silence and our loving are left near.
