A CHAPERONE

ARO KEPT TEXTING BILLIE AT THE MOST RANDOM OF TIMES, MEANING SHE DIDN'T RESPOND RIGHT AWAY ALL THE TIME.

During the times he'd text her during the day, it was usually her fault for the held off responses— she didn't want to indulge the vampire too much, and she wanted to play it cool. She had to play it cool, despite one thought circling around in her mind, on loop:

He's your soulmate. Play it cool, play it safe.

But every time she exceeded the five hour mark of giving back a response, he sent Jane. Yes, scary little Jane was frequenting Forks quite often due to the amount of times the Volturi king would message her while she was asleep.

She'd woken up to Jane standing at the foot of her bed once, and the scream she let out surely alerted the entire neighbourhood. Hell, Katherine Burbank swung into the room with a baseball bat, screaming about where the intruder was. Jane was good at vanishing, swinging herself out the window the minute she heard the Burbank matriarch's footsteps start to near.

"Just a nightmare, sorry mama."

"Do you need a cup of tea?" Katherine seemed out of breath by how fast she jumped into action, but was already out the door about to make her daughter some warm tea until Billie stopped her.

"No thanks, just gonna try going back to bed."

She knew her mother would be staying vigilant regardless of the nightmare excuse she used, but thankfully she retreated back to her room down the hall.

Jane reappeared when the door to Katherine's room clicked with a close, all but demanding Billie respond to Aro's most recent message so she could head back to Volterra.

At this point, Billie was getting frustrated. She valued her sleep like no other, and here she was, getting awoken at four in the morning on a weekend.

Rather than respond to the message he'd sent earlier, something about the weather, Billie changed the subject entirely.

Billie
Pls knock it off w/ Jane.
She's scaring the crap out of
me and it's not helping your
anti-creep case, weirdo

The response was instantaneous, as though Aro had been camped out beside his shiny new cellphone and had been awaiting her reply.

Vamp King
Consider it done.

My apologies, amore.
Tell me, what is the
meaning of this "weirdo"
phrase?

Billie
It's a synonym for
the name "Aro"
Predates to 69 BCE
and everything

Vamp King
Very intriguing!
Sei così intelligente,
your knowledge seems
to rival my own.

Billie really didn't think someone's ego could be that large, but this was all mighty Aro; of course his self assurance was through the roof.
